Thank you for posting all these great old photos. I now live in Netherton Colliery . In May I'm leading a walk for Northumberland Railway walks society along past Netherton Colliery as my point of interest. Also I would love to have prints of some of these for my house-is that possible and how? Alison Waters

If memory serves me correct, the burnt out Co-oP was after Beattie & Simm (or someone like that) took it over as an industrial pressing workshop and it caught fire.

Hallo Allan and Canny Lass,

Not sure if I have put this in the right way, hope so!.

anyway thank you so much for your tips, gallery etc and Canny Lass. I have told my friend, (whose Appleby family tree I am doing), about the photos etc and she said to thank you.very much for that. I think Jim, (James), must be a sibling I haven’t found as her Grandad, (after checking and Gt Grandad were both John Robert. Or unless they called him Jim to save the usual confusion ! But they were all at 31, Clifton Row. Was good to see the cottages. Thanks again.

my family were coal miners but further down in Page Bank, Co. Durham, near Spennymoor.

very grateful,

jane
