Is it me, or do those stepping stones look bigger back then?  I’ve got a snow-covered photo of same by Michael Goonan on my kitchen wall x

They do seem smaller in person now than old photos. This will be early 50s. 

There’s a similar point of view from 1977 here…

Humford Woods.  I dunno... I moved away in 1976.

Looking again at the oldest photo of the steppingstones there’s some obvious damage, pieces missing and one which has half missing. If these are Humford steppystones they must have been replaced at some time since the first pic was taken xxR

I don't think they've changed for many years. The , original stones were smaller. Look at the collage above, posted by Eggy June 17. The image bottpm left shows stones that were only half the size they are now. I think at some point  extra stones were laid alongside the originals to give more width. The extra stone can be clearly sen in the images centre, top left and bottom right. I think there's a date on the image bottom left but unfortunately I can't read it.

@Canny lass - unfortunately not a date, it's the postcard reference number = 1490

Who would be responsible for them, Bedlington, County or others?
