  1. "Nine deaths were mentioned YESTERDAY but only because it was Nigel Farage who pointed them out in interview." It had nothing to do with Nigel Farage; I understand you're pushing your BBC bias blah blah blah agenda here, and fair enough, but it might be better if you did it factually, and accepted that - as I have pointed out - the BBC DID mention the deaths when reporting the situation a couple of days ago in a repeated bulletin on the morning Breakfast programme, at least four times an hour, to the point where it became rather tedious. I'm surprised, in fact, they didn't go on to tell us what the poor bloke whose death the night before they were openly reporting had for breakfast. "There is certainly a "master plan" with reference to "man-made climate change" though. Much recent contradictory evidence is being excluded from reporting." I agree, but it's hardly limited to the BBC. Furthermore, I don't see how it can be dismissed that the vast population of earth has NOT had an effect on the climate; the controversy is as to how much of an effect - in other words, not the drastic catastrophe that certain areas of science are/have predicted. It will remain a controveersial area until we actually know what's going on; the fact there are contradictory views and evidence says we don't.
  2. The deaths were reported openly on BBC Breakfast, about four times an hour, all morning. There was even an on site report that covered it in detail, with numbers. I'm no BBC superfan, but you're wrong to state the desths went unreported.
  3. The Bbc covered it extensively on the morning news, pretty much to the obliteration of everything else.
  4. Try running a system restore to a point before the problem started - I had a similar problem and it worked for me. Close everything and click the start icon; type system restore into the box. It takes a while to get going so don't think it's not working. It will ask you to pick a restore point, choose one before the problem began. You don't lose any data. If you need a better description google 'system restore' and you should find a detailed description. (mine's an Aspire too, a few years old.) Hope this helps.
  5. Vic, you are spot on!
  6. Beautiful beasts at Coningsby at the moment - who knows what this is?
  7. Matt is consistently brilliant. Didn't have you down as a Telegraph reader, 3G!
  8. "People in the EU can move from country to country without a passport" That's all very well; try travelling to France without yours. You won't get in. here: http://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/mobile/faq/my-passport/ **(forgot to add, if by some chance you do get out, you won't get back in....)
  9. I understand, sorry, didn't mean to undermine you. I was referring to the fact that it is nigh on impossible for someone starting up a genuine small business (such as my own one man band) to get any funding these days; I was lucky, being the last recipient of an award from Wansbeck Works as well as one of the last to benefit from the excellent help from Go Wansbeck. Neither now exist. I guess what 3G is on about is the European funds, which also doesn't exist for the likes of myself.
  10. "EU has free movement of people..." No it doesn't; I still need a passport to get into France. What's changed?
  11. "Take for example the 'small businessman' getting startup funding" All but impossible these days. Especially in the North.
  12. I'm frankly quite surprised at the continued efforts of competing mobile operating systems; it makes no sense. The mobile market is mature enough now to follow the automobile world where manufacturers routinely work together for the sake of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and I doubt the consumer market can sustain more than a couple of rival systems. Apple is firmly established and has its many followers, and Android is perfectly adequate for the everyday user. Microsoft was always fighting a losing battle. The once volatile 'tech' market is surely settling down.
  13. Sadly Orloff I can't be in Lincolnshire this weekend; I really want to go but can't make it, and am disappointed! I hope you enjoy, take some pictures for us!
  14. "The simple fact is that the EU is destroying Europe!" For once, can't disagree with anything you write their. To put the record straight, I'm far from pro-EU. I prefer New Zealand Lamb
  15. Actually, I don't agree we're only hearing one side of the story. I've followed this and find the media to be very much anti euro and pro greek independence. I can only conclude you're seeing things with tunnel vision. Go Greeks!
  16. "Ford Popular 100e..." Great cars! Proper cars those were; these days there's so much electronic stuff that so much can go wrong. I remember pretty much renewing everything on one of my Mini's bit by bit, it was so simple even a mechanical ignoramus like me could do it.Nowmy mother drives a Nissan Micra that is utterly complex!
  17. just after opening time! And Sym, so that's why I was sore!
  18. Yes; I had a pint with an alien in the Market Tavern when the news crews came to cover the story.
  19. Wow! Fabulous cars! Just before I learned to drive my mother had, I think, an a30 van. I might be wrong but I think not. I learned in her next car. A morris minor. Few of my generation learned with double declutching in the routine.
  20. Orloff, you have piqued my interest there with my two favourite things - classic cars and classic aircraft! I do need to make a visit (to pick up a lizard of all things!) so may pencil it in for that weekend. May I ask what classics you own? Regards. ** edit - and if you let me know which you will be taking with you I can track you down!
  21. Interesting Maggie, next time I'm down that way I will do so. Barrington isn't the one who seeks to convert....not giving the plot away!
  22. I figured you may have Sym!
  23. Sym, those were the days! I'm probably preaching to the converted, but have you read The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, by Robert Tressel (Noonan)? If not, please do so, but make sure you get the unabridged version.
  24. So let's get something straight, are you saying the bias vanishes when the BBC goes commercial (which is the alternative, of course, to the license fee)? If so, why, and how? Won't the new commercial paymasters have a say on content? Or has that possibility passed you by?
  25. Surely the 'manicuring' sym refers to - quite rightly - are age old also? There's a shoot on my sister's land in Lincolnshire that she has to allow by covenant. I believe it's been in existence for several hundred years. I was disappointed that I only saw them take one dead duck last time!
