  1. Furthermore 'everyone pays their taxes' you wrote. No, they don't, and you know it. You already referred to the armies of accountants tgat wealthy people can afford to employ to make sure of it. Have cake and eat it?
  2. Im intrigued, 3G, that your stance appears to be there's nothing we can do about tax dodging wealthies. It's all very eell spinning the figures, but I have to pay mine, as do you. Is thus a ukip thing? Are they committed to sending home all bar those who have lots of dosh or something?
  3. Wilma, for those of us who have absolutely no experience of the pits, your stories are fascinating. If you want to write that book let me know, I'm an effective ghost writer! Now, I live at Choppington (right next to the famous speed camera) so where was the pit you refer to here? Would it have been behind my house?
  4. Fascinating stuff! I've had to google this now to find out more about it, but there's very little info (I notice the badge does have a 'The' on it Wilma, and is quite collectable these days)
  5. Wind causes problems with mine.
  6. BBC biased! Shock, horror!
  7. They are offering to pay someone 60 grand to manage something that might not happen?
  8. What a fascinating book! "at Bedlington there was a Holy Mound'" I often wondered about this, Maggie; when I first moved here I bought a house on Hollymount Terrace; how long has there been an area of teh town known as Hollymount, which could certainly be a corruption of 'Holy Mound' or something similar? Or is it simply a recent addition, thought up by someone or other as a nice name?
  9. Quite a lot for your money....
  10. Argentina, and a number of African nations, 3G. Probably shoddy journalism!
  11. There have been several defaults on IMF loans, 3G, just not in Europe as far as I know.
  12. Great beer and lovely people too!
  13. "Right how about a Boutique Hotel." Interesting idea; I know of few places to stay around here, but my friends at The Swan seem to decent trade.
  14. lol now that's not nice!
  15. and I suppose we're expected to believe Farage and co will? Yet to be convinced.
  16. and pray, tell, what is it to be??
  17. We certainly need more of them. "Come to Bedlington: buy a house, sue someone, get yourself a posey and have your hair done" (plus get a tattoo, have a beer, buy dinner.....)
  18. I'm with you Pete, never heard it myself either
  19. Scorpio as far as I can see you are the ideal saviour for what is an interesting and worthy building. These idiots should give you all the encouragement they can.
  20. I wasn't aware of your illness, and wish you well in your recovery.
  21. a horrible disease
  22. "I will continue my crusade to better the lot of everyone in Bedlington until my dying day, and hopefully beyond." And so you should, 3G, but perhaps a little less condescencion, or that which could be construed as such, would enable you to influence more of the flock. You implication, for example, that those who are intelligent need to watch such debates, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who read that into your comment, was never goin to inspire people to read more of your comments. I can't see many of the younger voting generation wanting to watch what was essentially a rather boring broadcast that told us very little. They may, however, be intelligent enough to work out which way they are (or are not) voting by reading the news, views and opinions of others in the daily newspapers. "I'm just an average lazy Joe with a tiny few luck breaks who, through life experience, is urging other average Joe's to stop accepting the spoon feeding of a elitist class who parasitically advances themselves by direct lies and pandering to populist myths. That's a major reason why I don't engage directly in politics myself, but that doesn't mean that I'm opting out - anything but!" That's a massive cop out, though, isn't it? Surely, to rid the system of the elitist class you refer to, it needs you, and your like, to get involved? "I think we are going to see a 75%+ turnout this time - hopefully more." I would hope so to, but we're not. It will be far, far lower as, despite views to the contrary, from my experience the average man on the street is apathetic. By the way, I don't find you smug and superior, I don't know you and am sure you are a good man, but your attitude in some comments on here. I read your comments as you are clearly an intelligent, free thinking person - as you explain - who is passionate about the cause at hand, but sometimes I cringe. I guess we all do the same with each other.
  23. 65%? Are you serious? You think 65% are going to turn out for the vote? You must be kidding! 45% at most. And why does an intelligent person have to watch a largely scripted tv debate to get the picture? I appreciate your views, but your smug and superior attitude can grate sometimes.
  24. I had to fake the local accent....(sorry, not me really)
  25. "....a t*****s out Massage Parlour...." mmm, interesting business idea......
