Ye they were good for "farting" When the silent ones slipped out in the classroom what a laugh it wasYep John ... my Granny always called them "Steepy Peas" - farters is what us lads called them. I don't think I would have dared to call them farter peas in front of my Granny.

Would that be what we call "Steepy peas" ?I was thinking about that last post I did and the ref to baked beans; on reflection I can't recall having many baked beans as a kid but do remember 'farter' peas. Many here will remember these beasts ... dried peas left to soak overnight, with a bicarb of soda tablet chucked-in for good measure - the peas would be cooked as part of the meal the next day.

Interesting that Syptoms.
I have noted the clay in the area and hense the huge ammounts of clay that were extracted for brickmaking.
I am interested in the brickyards and brickmaking and this actually gives me a good account of the deposits of clay.
Many thanks.

Big fan of Runrig, just superb band. Got many albums. Who was the member who left and went into politics ? I just can't remember off-handWe whent to see Runrig some years ago at the Sands Centre in Carlisle. The support band was Cappercallie (spelling?) they were brilliant. Couldn't understand a word they were bloody singing like, but thoroughly enjoyed them.
