Well I have been discussing peoples democratic right to vote even if they dont know anything about the matter they are voting on. But as far as Brexit in concerned you need to dry your eyes and mop up that milk dearie, that ship has sailed you will just have to stop stomping your feet and get over it, your cabin is booked whether you like it or not, and being seasick aint going to make em turn the ship around . No it does not concern me at all. As I said most people in this area vote labour no matter what, purely due to the fact that parents and grandparents before them did so, they know and care little about political matters.Does it concern me? not in the least it is that persons democratic right to vote as they see fit, do all of us who voted differently protest at the democratic result?, no. The day we stop allowing people to vote because we think they are to ignorant to understand politics would be the end of the UK and democracy as we know it . The alternative would be to allow the wealthy elite to make decisions on our behalf. Changes are a coming in Europe and the rest of the world, and those on the gravy train don't like it.

People don't HAVE to know why they voted: they still have a right to vote. An orangutan could stand for election in our local areas and as long as it was standing for Labour it would win and we would accept the democratic result People are only called politically illiterate when when it does not suit the wishes and whims of the wealthy elite. I suggest that there are many more who don't know why they voted to remain but are too arrogant to find out why! Oh the wails and cries of the out of touch Londoners and the Oxford hooray Henry's and luvies panicking when they realised the rest of the U.K could think for themselves .

The majority of folk would always do the exact opposite to what Phony and his marrows want. Lets give them all a big thank you, if it was not for them shouting so loud about how bad brexit was we would never have won the referendum. My mother tells me the fish and chip was once owned by the Wilsons and then by the Hunters, One of the Wilsons I think it would be Kitty married in to the Rice family who had the fish and chip shop at Scotland gate. Some of the other shops on the bank she tells me one sold feed for hens etc and another one was ran by Davy Moody before he started with his wagons in the coal and haulier trade. She says he also delivered using a large basket and she can remember he sold cakes. I am also told that the Pioneer boot repair people also had a repair factory/shop next to the Lord Clyde pub. And going up the bank towards Scotland Gate one of the houses was a Doctors surgery. I myself can remember in the sixties a shop selling car tyres on the bank same side as the railway tavern pub. As for Scotland gate front street I can remember most of the shops Hendersons the post office, Brian and Joyce ward newsagent, the star picture house long gone, then the Travellers rest known as Wallys then around the corner next to the institute was the COOP, groceries downstairs shoes and clothes upstairs.Back on the front street was one of two fish and chip shops called Hedleys, then you had Blackburns sweet shop , next the butchers then the fruit and veg shop I cant remember the names ,then a clothes shop called hatchet and then Rices fish and chip shop then another pub long gone that I cant remember the name of then the Garage. Over the road was Taits ice cream shop Robsons stores then some sort of Chapel next was Taylors the bakers a Doctors surgery the Kings arms pub Scotland gate club.

Well John I am most certainly not hiding behind anything I use a forum handle or as you say nom de plume just as the majority of the posters on this forum do, does that make them spineless also? I actually seen the roundabout from above once (its a long story for another time maybe ) and it looked like a swastika I thank you for respecting my opinion as I do yours , the world would be a happier place if we all did just that .

While I commend you for your support to your friends efforts I must remind you that my disagreement with him is to the resiting of the Trotter monument and spending money purely for the sake of spending money, and on that I can never agree with.

Actually Macome I don't know if I mentioned but I run my own business have done for many years and I still work hands on seven days a week 364 days of the year (i close on Christmas day ) so my armchair is something I don't get much opportunity to sit in, but I will continue to debate and communicate with you and anyone else who is supposed to represent the interests of me and mine, A strong opposition is vital to a healthy democracy. Malcome, you need to learn how to take criticism without resorting ill tempered and somewhat sarcastic retorts.

Aye I will believe it when they happen Malcome, But you aint changed my opinion that wasting money on moving Trotters monument is nowt more than a vanity project and should be near the end of the very long list of things that need doing in Bedlington .so I will pass on joining you and your mates as I would be singing from a different hymn book but thanks for the invite .

Malome Malcome Malcome .I think you are digging a deeper hole for yourself here, are you seriously telling us that the entire flower beds and grass on the large red lion roundabout would be done away with to site a monument that can be no more than a few foot square ? I very much hope not the displays on the red lion roundabout is one of the towns finest assets. If you mean just clearing a patch in the middle of the roundabout thus having a three or four feet square of less ground to tend to I doubt this would make virtually no difference to its maintenance requirements at all, and personally I would rather see those 6 workers employed goodness knows we have enough poor folk out of work . Our Valued objects and qualities such as historic buildings and cultural traditions that have been passed down from previous generations: are something to be proud of and cherish. moving them around like chess pieces on a board will not one jot of difference make to our heritage, would moving the market cross to a more conspicuous location make Bedlington more impressive to visitors ? or how about taking the blue plaques off our listed buildings and displaying them in more prominent place for travellers to see , I don't think so. Personally I would have liked to have seen something done about the large number of multi coloured steel shutters that blight the street , and the plastic windows and modern doors that seem to be appearing in growing numbers aircon units and satellite dishes and great big banners on the roundabouts, derilict bits of land that are overgrown and full of rubbish but no one seems interested in such things I would rather have things done and money spent for the benefit of Bedlington residents, not the occasional visitor who may be passing through on the top deck of the 400 on his or her way to buy some shoes or socks at a town that has some shops, but as you said earlier you are sick of folk complaining about that. I think the topic has been exhausted.

Then when the estimated cost of the move is known it should be made available to Bedlington residents who should then decide if its value for money Malcome. If no costings have been made then you are as wise as me on how much it would cost. My point being that the monument costs us nowt at the moment so I dont see how you can claim spending money on it will save us money. One thing I do know is that moving that monument will have no benefit on or enhance the life of me or any other resident of Bedlington, Of all the things that require doing in the Town moving Trotters monument must be at the end of a very long list. This is obviously something you and a few other are passionate about doing and good on you ,but alas I see it as no more than a vanity project of little importance , but unfortunately I have no say in how my taxes are spent

So will wore lasses Yorkshire puddings, but am not holding me breath in anticipation
