Why has Theresa May had secret talks with Sir Richard Branson in his quest for a second referendum, should someone who could be Prime Minister soon be seen to be lending an ear to unhappy billionaires who did not get what they wanted ? We still have an old Bero flour cook book, its a bit raggy and stained but it has some lovely old recipes in it that we still use. Its got none of your high class patisserie items its just full of basic old fashioned cakes pies and scones etc. I like nowt better than getting me gob around a nice big cream horn 'oo err missus'

I just remembered that one of the local fish and chip shops I think it was Mobey Dicks used to and maybe still does sell individual leek puddings, they were individual puddings in a tinfoil sort of cup /dish they were frozen and they just popped them in the microwave for a few minutes, I never tried one so cant comment on how they tasted. I am sure George the owner who is a lovely man would tell you who supplies them. I myself am a traditionalist and its Clootie or nowt for me

Never seen it ready made but you could just buy a packet of ready-made dumpling mix, then all you need to do is add the water to make the dough and add the leeks and steam but probably just as easier to buy suet and flour.

Cant beat a good old leek or onion pudding with mince and mashed tatties. Some folk would put it in a pudding basin and steam it (took a long time unless you had a pressure cooker) but most folk made a Clootie pudding this meant placing the mix in a pudding cloot ( a piece of cloth materiel ) tying it up and boiling it in water until cooked, it was rather stodgy but very filling. I can remember grandmother would make old shirts that were beond mending in to pudding cloots hankies and dusters.

I was saddened to read so many complaints from young people this week, crying and screaming about how old people had ruined the lives by voting to come out of the EU, some said old folk should not be allowed to have a vote as they would soon be dead. One letter I read said So all the old people gave us a future we didn't want. You've all had your careers, why screw it up for us, I doubt if any of the blubbering morons appreciate anything yesterdays generation did for them or realise that without it they would not be experiencing the freedom and lifestyle they now enjoy and take for granted. I doubt if they are interested in what the brave ladies of Sheffield did but I for one thank them from the bottom of my heart . Sheffield's brave Women Of Steel, who kept the munitions factories going to help win two world wars, are to be finally honoured with medals as well as a statue they deserved a lifetime ago - The Women of Steel project will produce a permanent memorial in recognition of the women of Sheffield now in their late 80s, 90s and even 100s who served their city and country by working in the steel industry and factories during World War I and World War II. We had BBC and Sky providing 24/7 cover about the murder of Jo Cox as well as a stream of MPs and Luvies weeping and wailing, then surprise surprise once voting for the referendum is over the coverage is turned off like a switch, how sad to have seen this young woman's murder used as a political jemmy for the stay campaign

I have a feeling that Brexit wont happen unless article 50 is triggered very soon. the longer we wait the more opposition will fight Brexit and public unrest will grow as the BBC and Sky seem to have started a new project fear campaign the June 23 referendum on Britain's EU membership is not legally binding. Instead, it is merely advisory, and, in theory, could be totally ignored by the UK government. What would result if MPs voted against Brexit ? would we see cavil unrest

Would the amendment only apply to any referendum after the date of the amendment, or could it be back dated to the referendum we have just had

You are correct canny lass the petition must have been set up before the referendum but its on the main UK Gov site so it would not have been down for a week very strange, It did crash for a short time on Friday when it could not cope with the demand, press reports the petition passed the seven-figure landmark just over 24 hours after the referendum result was confirmed. The promoter of the petition is Oliver Healey a third year politics student at an East Midlands University. (Obviously a student of politics who doesn't believe in democracy). It is regrettable that his university didn't tell him that ANY legislation (including the European Union Referendum Act 2015) can't be changed retrospectively.
