  1. hi Again Norman, yes i am now putting things together with pictures in my mind. were you in the forces too? Yes i remember John & Robert very well,i think they did move from Beatty Road in the sixties. Can't blame them for that, however it is 100 times worse now than then. I took my Daughter down to Bedlington 3years back. It was sad to see how it had been neglected for years.A number of public houses have closed including the Terior pub. Gordon, john Munley & me used to have a drink in their,i was under age mind. I am so sorry to hear Margaret is not so well, please do give her my love & tell her i wish her well for the future. I think we don't have a big gap in ages. I am 61 now. She was a really lovely lass when i knew her,a very gentle soul. Does Gordon & Margaret have any family Norman? Talk soon. Jim
  2. Hi again Norman sorry i missed this message before i sent you my last one. I am so sorry to hear about Gordon,i must admit i had fogotten he had a brother too,i do remember your Sister of course. Please do give Gordon my best regards and my love to your sister. Logan is my middle name so Gordon knew me as Jim Richardson,we hung out the time we both went out with the Hunter Girls. I remember your family moving to peterbourgh in the sixties & met up with him for drink just before i had joined up. I often think of him & did wonder if he & Veronica had stayed together.it can be a small world at times. I remember Gordon did not have great health even when we were friends,am i right in thinking he had Epilepsy? I do hope he will be ok.How is your Sister, well i hope? Speak again soon mate. Jim
  3. Hi Norman/Basil,Jlogan here. Thanks for your reply to my post on the Hunters. Kind of you to do so. ironic that you are down their in Wiltshire i'm up here again. Was down in your territory way back in my Army day's after leaving Bedlington. Regarding Joan the eldest sister, yes she did join the Police force but for how long i have no idea. We had lost contact by then. I do remember her sister too,she went out with one of my friends too. {Gordon Turner} Don't know if you knew him,he worked at the Doctor Pit for sometime.Last time i saw Joan was in 1970,she was in a car that went past me,i had just left the Army a few weeks prior. It was sad to hear about her Father,i only knew him for a short time while Joan & i were together. Time does go so quickly.Hope you are well & take care. Jlogan
  4. Hi Jean,i have been reading your responses to Jenn's request's regarding her family tree. I am Jim,Your Aunt Jane/Jenny's son. I do remember you & your sister, also of course your mum. I must admit i dont remember which sister{Younger or Eldest?} as it has been so long since we last met. I am sorry to hear about your mum, actually i did try and contact you all when mum died in 84,but to no avail. If you do see this when you next visit this site, please do get in touch,Jenn in america has my E-Mail address. Warm regards to you and the family. Jim

For sure i remember the Disc as we called it in the sixties. Loved the place,i used to hang out with the guy's in their for a magical year. It was in there i first saw this great looking lass fom Blyth, later that night i was walking her home from the clayton dance hall. We have been married for over 40 years now,so thank you Disc. Sad it did ot last very long, but then many things have changed in Bedlington over the years, not always for the better.
  8. I was so sad to hear of all the recent closures and those planned. I was brought up in Bedlington and i remember doing the rounds of most of the pubs with my mates. I is the way of the world today im afraid. About 3or 4 years ago, i brought my daughter to Bedlington to look around my old place, what a change their is. I didnt recognise the old woods behind beatty road. When i needed the loo we went into my old local the northumberland arms, only two people were in,one being the barmaid. This was saturday afternoon,i couldnt believe it. When i was drinking there in the sixties you coulndnt get moved on that day,it was a hub of activity. Im so sad, we thought it was dead when we were young, but we did not realise what we had,two cinemas and a strong community spirit.
  9. hi,im new to this site, i was brought up in bedlington until i went into the army at 19yrs in 1967. like ISW,i lived in beatty road but as time has gone gone bye, lost touch with all those i knew. i had many friends in the early years, sad to have not seen them for so long. Good news is though,i have been able to view on this site someone from USA looking up family tree and i am in their,so that is really looking exciting. Wonder if anyone can help me trace a dear friend from long ago, she was called Joan Hunter then, lived in Terrier Close near the pub in the 1960s. I lost touch so long ago it would be wonderful to catch up with her. Bye for now folks
