  1. Current battery technology is a dead end Merc. As for Telsa, great innovative man so far ahead of his time.......... Like so many others lived to see his work plagiarized and copied remorselessly by lesser beings! Did he invent the AC electrical system, almost certainly, did he see any personal benefit for giving the world a staple electrical system, no.
  2. I think Nikola was working on our future needs even back then. If his technology works, or if we can get it to work, then we have access to electrical power wherever.

  10. When I lived in France there was a small hamlet just up the river from us and once a year there was a memorial service at the large memorial carved stone near the chapel there. During the war this area had been a hot bed for the Resistance and there were a lot of munitions being hidden. After rounding up all the inhabitants the Germans asked where the munitions were being hidden and who was in the Resistance. After no answers were forthcoming the whole lot of the villagers were shot. As with a lot of small villages and communes anywhere, family members were prolific in the locality so it's hardly any wonder this sort of remembrance has been maintained.

  12. So who was the wise guy/(S) who has smashed one of the tubs and started pulling out flowers in one of the the other tubs at the old Top Club? Any info will be gratefully received but could well result in broken limbs!
  13. I think one of them might be an ex Bedlington teacher! 4 sacks of broken glass and weeds taken out.......unbelievable! Big vote of thanks to Russell, couldn't have done it without him. Also Brenda, Brian and of course Adam.
  14. Couple of ways GGG. Anyone can contact the council……. 01670 457070 or online at the Councils website www.westbedlington.org.uk. Don't let council involvement put anyone off, that should change quite soon! Or PM me and I will pass on phone numbers. Group meets twice a month at present but there has been a lot to organise, soon that will change as the season changes. Obviously a much quieter back end of the year. Look out for 120 hanging baskets going up tomorrow!!!!!!!

  22. HPW, Don't worry about getting it wrong or whatever we can still have a mature discussion. You are not saying anything 90% of the population don't say and believe. The problem for me is that there is plenty of properly apportioned blame to go around councils for stuff they have and are doing, so much in fact no wonder it's a popular myth they are to blame for everything! If only we could hold people to account for past indiscretions, I am afraid that's a privilege only us the proletariat are allowed to endure! You know the people of Bedlington chipped in once before to buy a monument, its standing at the Top End next to the roundabout, and they had nowt by comparison (certainly a far as disposable incomes go) in those days.
  23. All the best, have a good'un.
  24. Spot on Merc!
