Construction traffic, Spare a thought for Slaley Court residents who will soon be having construction traffic for 33 new houses passing within a cat's whisker of their homes. All to go down what is now a quiet residential cul-de-sac. Totally unsuitable!

Keith, The statutory consultative authority for that will be the East Bedlington Parish Council. We have just seen even when Town and parish councils put in concerns and votes to deny permission the NCC planners take little or even no notice. Is Bernicia now more or less responsive to community needs after their recent reorganisation?

Like the way you think ex B! I linked it on my facebook account and strightaway got a comment about how crap our market is. No one is arguing that fact but if we don't shout about it and tell the powers that be we are here, nowt will ever get done. (BTW, its a NCC thing, us plebs in the Town Council were told months ago to stand clear while they sorted it out! Clocks-a-ticking!)

Anyone wishing pension advice could do worse than ask recently knighted Paul Tucker, ex BoE Deputy Governor. Although a public servant for the last 23 years he has managed to amass just under £6M in his pension scheme. Worth considering in this country a lifetime's allowable contributions, as far as taxation goes, is £1.5M???? Looks like a case of do as I say not as I do again!

A member of the public raised the matter after the explanation he got off Bernicia was that the corridors were too narrow for modern disabled regulations. If that is the case there must be a lot of older buildings to come down now?!?

That was a question at a Town Council meeting recently. Maybe Adam has the minutes because council asked Bernicia to explain.

I have to agree with Sym on this one, it really grates on my when Robson Green says a word with deliberate inflection to sound 'posh'. I realise these people might have had to change the way they speak for their acting careers or publicity machines but that doesn't stop it being annoying in the same way Loyd Grossman and Robert Peston make my teeth grate whenever they open their traps too! No wonder poor little talentless Cheryl couldn't get that American gig, everyone is selling out their vernacular birthrights in a bid to become mid Atlantic mediocre!

Came back on the Eurostar recently and at 'boarder control, customs' in Paris the woman checking my passport asked a couple of questions. She said I had a good Newcastle accent, and she was obviously from our part of the world herself, I said "No hinny Bedlington!" She laughed and waved me through!
