The thing Is rosco when talking about 1997, 2001, and 2005 the turnout dropped from 71.7% in 1997 to 59.3% in 2001 and then 58.4% in 2005. You can only look at 2005 and 2010 as a real fall in support with 55.2% of the vote in 2005 or 20,315 votes for Labour, compare that to 2010 45.9% of the vote or 17,548 votes for Labour, as the turnout increased from 58.4% in 2005 to 60.7% in 2010 or in number terms 36,809 people voted in 2005 increasing slightly to 38,273 in 2010. It all depends on Turnout but I doubt anywhere in the whole UK will ever see 100% turnout.
