  1. I am not too keen on clicking onto links.

If someone has a point to make then they could make the case with reference to the information they believe is available.

However never say never and never belief all you read.

    Bluff and double bluff.

    Statistics and dammed lies.

I like a hard copy to read and I prefer to read with a degree of 'Well he / she would say that wouldn't he/ she'

To quote a certain lady in a certain court case.

  2. A dangerous job James but there is nothing to replace this industry and jobs.

We are buying in coal that is produced with possibly 'NO ' regard to safety.

Markets can be rigged and who gains from the closure of a whole industry is debatable.

In the sixties I always wondered who took into account the unemployment benefit and other figures when the mines closed .

Neighbours who were thrown on the scrap heap for a lifetime of benefits.

Even then the 'we do not need the coal' argument was flawed.

  3. Interesting interview on Radio 4 tonight.

Was Elvis irritated by the interviewer.

Who could dislike ' The Angels want to wear my Red Shoes'

Or lyrics like 'They called her Natasha but she looked like Elsie'

We saw him at the City Hall in the 70's brilliant.

Very happy memories of singing 'Oliver's Army ' loudly in the car with all our kids.

  4. Still trying the green button.

In the mean time why have some posts no 'greens button' while others have.

My posts on this thread early on have no green button whilst the post at 4:17 today has the green button to press.

Not that I would press my own post 'honest'.

    Well not intentionally.

It is fascinating to see who has the most green points.

    Sadly not me.

Well done Canny Lass sixty last time I looked.

  5. I was not going to reply or just say 'whatever' to 3g.

Any reply just gives way to another huge amount of information that could be disputed.

The use of moral outrage and a fear clause just serve to negate debate. ( in my opinion)

3G maybe has a point but as we all know life is not simple.

To keep this thread going highlights the title and in its own way is propaganda .

Whichever paper you read or whichever party you decide to vote for should not cause a problem.

At times this argument had amounted to 'What part of your wrong do you not understand?'

Sadly mercuryg that is the reply I fear you will get to your posting.

  6. Whilst these are your sincerely held viewpoints 3g, there are other ways and other viewpoints just as valid.

There are good people who do not fall into the World domination category..

Be careful you are not being fooled by the articles and papers you read.

One could equally say that you are hiding your head in the sand.

The right wing extremists are always going to be around, the ones you support could be said to be in disguise.

A lot could be said about the petition you ask people to sign.

  7. Brilliant Canny Lass.

My belief ,supplied by my Godmother, was in the Christmas Anna Angel.

It seems in Greece an Anna Angel came on Christmas night and baked a cake.

If there was a good sunset then it was obviously the Angels were having a party.

    It all made perfect sense.

Possibly better than a scary old man with a white beard.

No need to get into dept.

    Simple.

  8. Who came to the rescue Paul?

My bike I still have from those days.

No one would have taken it then but now it seems to be worth stealing.

Un cool to cool or vintage.

It was a Black Coop bike it has survived but is a little rusty.

  9. Worth considering how much coal is being produced / dug up from opencast sites.

    Shotton, Widdrington and many others.

When you consider the 60/70 s in Bedlington : we know the argument.

We do not need the coal, then suddenly opencast appears.

People thrown on the scrap head :

Do the figures ever consider how many people will be unemployed and claiming benefits.

    Sometimes for a lifetime.

Consider how many many industrial jobs are no longer available.

We are a small island , imports may not always be an option.

  10. We saw Bruce Spingsteen at Newcastle Football ground in 1985

He had the WOW factor and still does.

The programmes last night on BBC 4 were good to watch.

Rock and Roll at its best.

Too many great track to mention.

Only problem is there are other things to do and organise but who cares.

The housework and fixing that gate can wait.

Now where are those vinyl records to play loudly.
