  4. @HIGH PIT WILMA - I posted your comment on Facebook where Matty Hall's grandson had posted the news of Matty Hall. This is the response from his grandson - John Davidson :- John Davidson Alan Edgar thanks so much for taking the time to post this, it's a lovely tribute from Bill. I remember talking to him outside my Grandads last summer when he was walking down the lane and I was doing the garden, we had a good crack, smashing fella.
  5. Photo from Doreen Riley, Bygone Bedlington Facebook group. Names from the Bygone Bedlington - Bedlington remembered and Past Times group members.
  6. @Bill 19 - I have no idea what the site is you mentioned above. This is a map showing the old Plessey Wagonway from Plessey Mill to Blyth. Close to where I think you are saying the 'entrance door' is ( just to the right of Plessey Mill next to the number 79 on this map), there are some old mine workings identified - 'Rodney Pit' & 'Old Coal Workings'

  9. More names from Margaret Thorton via No 5 Walter Thornton :-
  10. Seems like a good idea. As I have never seen it up close, is it planted in soil or just kept upright by 'guide ropes'?
  11. I haven't seen any posts on any of the sites from 'The Kid' the last week or so so he may be on holiday but his normal slot is a Tuesday 15:00 to 17:00 :-

  13. List of forthcoming bands posted by Michelle Branigan - Facebook Bygone Bedlington group with the comment :- Michelle Brannigan I can remember every weekend coming across to the Dominoe, when Bedlington was 'THE' place to be entertained in South East Northumberland. We now have the fantastic music venue Platform 1, which is rocking every Friday night with live music. Like and follow the page to keep track of what bands are coming up. #supportlivemusic#Bedlingtonsnumberonenightspothttps://www.facebook.com/platform1musicvenue/

  17. @Ovalteeny might be interested - something new for his radio program.
  18. Now that question I could not answer. I doubt if a local councilor could. Is it not down to the local council to invite the relevant organisations, companies etc. etc. to invest and open facilities in the town but surely the the final say will always be those who want to invest in the town eg. business people - NHS for doctors surgeries ? - the government of the day to provide local governments with the money to invest in infrastructure ------- . You need a local councilor to answer those points but do they have the time to answer on a small local group like this one?
  19. Jan Lockhart (Facebook group Bygone Bedlington) asked if anyone had a photo of Marshall's Buildings as she wanted to add one to her family tree album to show where her relatives lived. She could only remember them as derelict next to the Dun Cow pub. I remembered @Cympil had a photo of Front Street east in his Gallery>Historic Bedlington>Bedlington & Netherton Old Photo`s album so I shared the photo with her and Marshall's Buildings identified as the building to the left of the Dun Cow, towards Millfield. @Reedy then added a photo to the topic with this comment :- I found this picture in Dad’s collection. It’s marked as ‘Millfield area - Miss Watson outside her sweet shop’. Sorry no date or exact location. Dad said :- Miss Watson had 2 brothers who were both painters & decorators and had a storage building on the left as you turned into Millfield. One brother was called Murray. The sweet shop was on the right as you entered Millfield. Can anyone remember Marshall's Buildings or Miss Watson's sweet shop?
  20. @HIGH PIT WILMA - another photo from Steve. This time Surface Electricians. Steve named them but wasn't sure about the bloke on the right as you look at the photo. he thinks it could be Basil Timlin the brother of Bill Timlin who is in the photo.
  21. Update on the names from Steve Tosney and he says they are Surface Fitters & Blacksmiths:-
