Why don't they put the proposed "welcome to Bedlington" artwork there instead of beside Demesne Avenue.

Not at the moment. There is a block beside the car parks behind the Bluebell pub, but they are closed due to disrepair. Supposedly they are going to be renovated. There is also a block in Attlee park car park, but they again are closed possibly to be renovated. We can only cross our fingers, as well as our legs!

Re: Trotter Memorial. Putting it in the middle of the roundabout will make it inaccessible to those interested in seeing it in detail and reading the inscription.

It's a data collection tower for use by NAREC the offshore wind agency. As well as anemometry it collects other data.

Don't know thats a new one on me, what were his ties to the Monkey?
What is the reason why they call the Barrington arms the Monkey?
I read somewhere that the landlord, during the war and rationing times, used to put a toy monkey in the window to let his regulars know that he had had a delivery of beer.

I've noticed signs posted, some upside down, regarding next weeks Fair. Since when did we have a High Street?

Just been for a walk down Humford Mill today and noticed that there are two "for sale" signs up, one for the paddock and I presume one for a house, possibly the gin gan, and associated land.

Just heard that Ian Bell has died following an incident at the TT races on the Isle of Man. Family lives in our estate, such sad news.

Was this online or archive records?

It's the sentiment that counts, which is never too late, thank you.

Before the school was built there was a row of 3-4 houses, and it was called Church Row and they ran the length of the current plot.

No they won't because there is no available sites on their plans. However I agree with you about the woods, in fact, all of our woods are becoming tips.

I've just discovered that Ascent are supported by ARCH and have several developments in the county: Blyth, Newbiggin, Alnwick.

Just spotted "Site Acquired for Ascent Homes" in the old school grounds this morning. The question is, will they be using plans drawn up years ago or starting the process all over again?

Thank you Maggie

Does anyone know when the March meeting is? It's scheduled for Monday but as it's Easter I'm not sure if the meeting will go ahead.

Sad to hear of the death of Keith Emerson at the age of 71. Probably best known as the keyboard player in Emerson, Lake & Palmer, but I first encountered him when he played in the prog rock group The Nice when they played in the Newcastle Jazz festivals in the late sixties early seventies. A superb keyboard player, classically trained which probably explains his adaptations of several classical pieces.

The site includes the field behind the Pub.
Is that the field with the children's play area?

Is there any ongoing problems with Live!, as I can't get an image on my iPad having previously being able to?

I've seen some other entries on History Hollow where people have described passing Milne Park going towards the Doctor Pit when taking short cuts across the rail tracks. Milne Park has also been cited as the home of Bedlington Mechanics at some point in their existence.

Haven't been on site for a while, but LIVE doesn't appear in my header bar. Is it still active?
