  1. Well it's Friday and I am fully awake. I must have gone to sleep in my DeLoreon though because it seems to be 1985 all over again. Billy Ocean and The Thompson Twins are on the radio,Geldof is swearing on the telly, gonna turn the channel over and watch The Golden Girls. Four channels equals four times the fun! What choice!Beckers winning Wimbledon,Ozzy Osbourne's had a son (He seems like a future world icon, I can spot talent)And Roger has just made a new Bond Film (He'll go on forever, I can sense it)I'm going back to bed..................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  2. Maybes the vote counters called into Morrisons on the way to the um...... vote counting thingy place on Thursday morning and didn't get served until Friday. Then again maybes they got lucky and there were two tills on. Theres an urban legend that says it does happen.
  3. I have no idea when the next General Election will be. A thousand yard stare will do that to you. The prospect of one soonish though sounds just delightful.
  4. Roll on Friday. Hopefully by then the policking will be over, including on this website, and I can get back to normality. Then in 5 years time I can be wooed again by Reds, Blues, Yellows, Greens, Purples and whoever else is on the ballot and I can be told that I am important again. It still isn't gonna change the fact that I have to walk a mile for basic groceries in the town I love. Please don't think this post suggests apathy towards politics or other important issues. I'm just a bit weary of it all at the moment. (Smiley included so nobody needs to call the Samaritans)
  5. I was really proud to see how many people turned up for the day. The last time I saw that many people standing around in Bedlington was when I was last in Morrisons waiting to be served.
  6. I walked past Tesco's today and there was a racket going on inside. The front doors were open and the checkouts were still in place. I prseume the workers were stripping the shop parts rather than fitting for a new business.
  7. Its a little like cable junction behind the TV. With Sky and a 4 way signal amplifier sending Sky around the house its sadly not as simple as plugging the aerial into the TV. I have checked the coax plug which was fine but remade the connection on the offchance it may have been the issue.
  8. Nope. I never have any issues all year round with reception so its maybes an aerial issue I think.
  9. I have been having some issues with my freeview TV reception today. The picture keeps breaking up every now and then and I wonder if its reception problems from the transmitter at Pontop Pike or if its more to do with my TV aerial. Anyone else having issues or is it just me?
  10. A while ago there were some workers in the shop, Joiners presumably and they were in there for what seemed like 4 or 5 weeks and everytime I passed they seemed to be on a break. When they left the shop it seemed the same as it was before they arrived, unfinished. Maybes they are the same workers back again. It must be a dream job.
  11. I was in Ashington today and walking down the front street it just seemed really quiet and the shops seemed a little lifeless and I wondered if the locals thought the front street was struggling like lots of towns high streets throughout the Country (As you can tell from that sentence I am fascinating company). Anyway, I had just been to Wilkinsons and Argos and was on my way to Asda, Iceland and various other places and thought 'If only Bedlington had some of these shops'. Help is on the way though, Gotham has Batman and we have Arch drawing up an investment plan. I can't wait.
  12. If we start discussing what stores in Bedlington do not sell then this could very well break the internet record for longest forum thread. Thats presuming such a thing exists, which I am sure it will.
  13. This is my first post on the forum as the way that Tescos has treated the town disgusted me enough to search out a forum to gauge just how people are feeling. Unsurprisingly there is a lot of anger from residents who feel that Tescos have let the town down. When it was announced a while ago that Tescos were going through a tough time, profits not being in the billions instead of the millions I suppose, I was naive enough to think that the Bedlington store would be unaffected. Lets be honest, Bedlington is hardly blessed with wonderful shopping facilities and I wrongly presumed that any company with common sense would realise that providing a good store would be an easy way to make a profit. Customers who don't have their own transport are handcuffed to the choice of a small Morrisons or mediumish Tescos for supermarkets and I thought Tescos would remain. Obviously I was wrong. I suppose the warning signs have been there a while. The pyramids were built quicker than the Tesco development progressed and the old Co-op next door (3 floors no less!) has been used it would seem as a storeroom instead of being redeveloped and opened as a clothing/electrical etc option of the company. I use the store every couple of days for basic food shopping and picking up the odd option ordered online using the Click and Collect service but would gladly purchase more if the options were available. As with all companied closing its the human cost that is most distressing. The staff must be devastated and I have always found them friendly and helpful. I hope that a new company will move into the premises and provide them with continued employment as well as us shoppers with somewhere to buy groceries as well as other goods. The prospect of another building sitting derelict is far too depressing to contemplate. Anyway, sorry if I have made the same sorts of points as people have already made but I just wanted to express how I was feeling as I am proud of this town and rather annoyed at Tescos. I don't want to pick the town apart anymore in this post so maybes on another visit I can talk about the lack of toilets, dog muck issues etc. I am a positive person by the way so I am counting down the days until major investment arrives and this thread is a thing of the past.
