  1. You are so right CK, radioactivity has always been there as you say.

"The chemical element krypton, whose principal source is the atmosphere, had a long-lived radioactive content, in the mid-1940s, of less than 5 dpm per liter of krypton. In the late 1940s, this content had risen to values in the range of 100 dpm per liter. It is now some hundred times higher than the late 1940 values. This radioactivity is the result of the dissolving of nuclear fuel for military and civilian purposes, and the release thereby of the fission product krypton-85 (half-life = 10.71 years, fission yield = 0.2%). The present largest emitter of krypton-85 is the French reprocessing plant at Cap-de-la-Hague."

Aye, look you so-called chemist or should I say comic boy, everyone knows krypton is supermans weakness green rock......tsk

  2. Yah, we jumped the gun a tad on the Picture of the Day thing. The pix rotating software has only just been installed, and it WILL be updated every 24 hours within a very short while.

As mentioned elsewhere, the personal picture galley software is to be installed this month. In fact the bugs now seem to have been fixed, and it's likely to be operational sooner rather than later in the month.

If people don't upload their own Bedlington Galleries then I certainly will. In fact I probably will anyway -competition is always a good thing! :) Gallery isn't just restricted to pix of the Town though, as long as it's of general interest, and doesn't cause offence...

A special interest section should be opened, just a thought.

  3. Must admit I had a belting day there on Sunday, to celebrate a rather fine Christening. Alcohol was both inexpensive yet also of reasonable quality, whilst the buffet seemed to go down a treat. The fella sat behind me tucking into the Chicken Kiev and chips also seemd to be enjoying his Epicurean delight, so hats off to the staff.

Unfortunately there was a high number of middle-aged men in rather unfetching tank-tops (Ashworth, Taylor Made, Sunderland of Scotland et al) which took some of the sheen of an otherwide excellent day out. Finally, young boys should, in no circumstances, dress like golfers. It's just not right.

    Grand day young man

    ;)

  4. Sorry, but I must point out that your comment is wholly inaccurate. I have never had recourse to use Anusol or any proprietary brand of haemorrhoid cream. Indeed, my balloon knot is in excellent condition.

Ah, after a good curry / guiness festive evening, the next morning I reach for Anusol to smooth

    things internally. 10/10

    ps also excellent lube

  5. Yes Joe, back in the UK, inevitable I suppose all things considered, I was really struggling to settle in Canada some of the reasons you are probably aware of. Been back here now since April 04, live in a tiny bungalow without a view, no dog or garden and no drivethroughs where I can grab a double/double. But I like it, it's home, I see my daughter and grandkids anytime I like now, after ten years absence that is a luxury for me.

Glad to hear you are ok and I look forward to seeing more of your postings fam21.gif

Ah, you must be in Acklington Prison.....
