  1. Kathleen, my tree is " N Riley/Butcher/Collingwood/Hall". It is public so you can access it. Nicola
  2. Hi Kathleen, Yes, Dad is still very much with us albeit house and bedbound now. Mam's passing was expected but still a shock. The last of her siblings. Mam did manage to speak to Auntie Muriel a few months before she (Muriel) passed away. Trevor has been keeping our ties to Northumberland open , now that we live down south-ish, actually in East Anglia. If you want to k ow more information, and you're on Ancestry, you could look up my family tree. It's quite extensive and quite a lot of information about the Butcher/Collingwood side there too. Nicola
  3. yes Alan, she could. Her best friend was Eileen Brown, who is #32!
  4. Thanks Alan but I've just this minute found her! Westridge 1959 PE class.
  5. I stumbled upon this thanks to CannyLass! #33 is my Mam! I've been pretty deep into researching my family tree through Ancestry for about 2 decades now, so I'm really pleased to find this website. Sadly Mam passed away on the 1st February, and it's true what they say about not asking the questions when you can. I also found a photo of my cousin Sheila Potts, who went to Westridge in 1962. thanks Nicola Riley
  6. #19 is my maternal 1st cousin! Sheila's mam was my Mam's eldest sister. But my Mam (Joyce Butcher) was just 2 years older than Sheila. Does anyone out there know my Mam? She was born at Fountain Yard, but may have lived on Northumberland Avenue. Sadly, she passed away on the 1st February, and it's true what they say, you regret asking the questions that you should have asked long before the day you never can again! Ta. Nicola Riley
  7. My Mam, Joyce Riley nee Butcher/Collingwood, recently passed away on the 1st February 2026. I have for many years now been researching our family tree. A contributor to the page commented on #1 &2 Fountain Yard. Mam was born @#1 in 1947. Her mam, Margaret Annie Collingwood, was also born at Fountain Yard in 1908, so that was possibly a family home. My Grandad, William Henry Quilter Butcher was born in 1901 @ Doctor Pit. I would love to know if there is anyone who knows more about the history of these places, especially where mam was born. Her grand Uncles; Nanna's brothers ; James Robert Collingwood, and George Collingwood are mentioned as casualties of The Great War. Thankfully mam was able to visit their memorials.
