  1. Wey it turns out that two of the five arrested are Doctors....so they`re more than likely to be Pakistani`s

I think you will find that they are all connected to the health service and they are Iraqi, even bagged two of the swines in Australia.

Pity the Rangers fans didn't get them then they'd know what a good kicking was

  2. Anyone else getting fed up of the death metal bands on a sunday night? Complained to Environmental Services at WDC, they can't do anything and passed it on to Licensing who also can't do anything. Any ideas what to do other than torching the place?!

Try going an you'll probably never look at take that again or listen to their c**p again

  4. I am an asda employee, and i agree totally with you.

asda, tesco and sainsburys, as well as morrisons etc, have the ability, and the customers to create big, out of twn hypermarkets, for those who can travel to them, and for those that cane, they have online shopping. i say keep those big supermarkets out of the towns and villages, and give the good old village shop a chance. i liked the idea put forward a while back for the old co-op ( i think thats what it was!) building to be three smaller shops, more stores at the bottom, a DIY place in the middle and offices at the top. Whatever happened to that idea?

the place could even be split down the middle creating 6 spaces for smaller buisnesses!

The bigger supermarket chains have a lot to answer for...

Blame W.D.C. and your local chamber of trade. The people who bought Maxi Freeze had the idea(3 shops etc)for the co op they wanted to buy it but they hit so many brick walls with w.d.c. and local trade they gave up trying, also on this little eavesdropping spying mission found out it was one of the local traders who objected to the post office opening all day wed and sat on the grounds it would affect his/her trade!

  5. I remember hearing alot of talk back when the police station was being built about that mine, apparently that building stands on huge stilts hammered into the earth to bypass the possibility of subsidence caused by the mine... but back to the topic... i aint got any photos, but my mother does, i'll see what i can get scanned...

Apparenntly it stands on the old pit shaft, maybe one day it,ll disappear down it,with no one in it of course  (they'll all be out chasing smokers  )Then maybe we'll get summit useful built on the land, hairdressers, estate agents.................................

  6. Its plate day today " The Pitmans Derby" the "Andy Capp Handicap". This was the day when the folk of the mining villages would have a good get together sink a few ales lose a few bob and have a bloody good family day out, maybe visit the hoppings before or even after the races,I remember going there with my mother when I was a young lad....aaaah the memories.

Anyway got to thinking, The Plate is still here, are there any traditions that have died out in the area, like picnic day on the front st.

  7. With what? what do you disagree with?

    the masking of bad language?

the suspending of a member that was abusing the forum?

you cant say the deletion of posts, as i have not deleted any.

you cant say the deletion of topics, as i have not deleted any.

the closing of threads? fine, i welcome the feedback, how long do you think a thread should lay dormant before being closed?

or should they never be closed and lay open to the abuse of the children that wish to disrupt this forum?

I've been asked by the moderators of this forum to lead these two forum sections, making sure the topics are not disrupted, that posts are acceptible for review by visitors of any age (ie language) and to close spent threads. Thats what i'm doing.

Of course i will get it wrong at times, i'm human, and i'm suseptible to moods like anyone else.

sometimes things will slide, sometimes i'll keep to the letter of the rules. same as threegee FourGee and missvic.

of course, if you disagree with anything, you can always dispute it. i will listen.

How many more times, why not post your reply every day then it might get through to some people, sick an tired of reading the same old whining whingeing why you picking on me crap.

If you dish it then take it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Well, its coming to something when i start a conversation about the weather!

Anyone enjoying the rain? i personally love it, except when i'm at work.

i'm one of those sad people you see walking the dog when its pis.....istantly raining...

Whats your favorite type of weather?

A balmy late summer afternoon and torrential downpours with thunder absolutely wonderful

    Sad me eh!

  9. Last year, when smoking in restaurants and bars was banned, a group of Calgary owners announced that they would ignore the new anti smoking laws. Their rationale was the same ones you are quoting now. Customers would stay away, businesses would fail, Calgary would become an evening ghost town, etc, etc.

After a few weeks, about 40 or 50 of the most strident anti law owners were hauled into court. Some were discharged, most were fined a few hundred dollars, and sent out to repent their evil ways!

A year later, and Calgary is still booming. Restaurants and bars are packed, and no one seems to have noticed the absence of smokers. The air is fresh, and you can taste your food.

So much for doom and gloom. Either smokers have just decided to get with the program, or there is a whole new clientele crowding the bars and restaurants. But as for "the bars will all close." Certainly not in Calgary, and as long as people need relaxation, and a pleasant atmosphere to meet and socialise in, then the bars and pubs will continue to prosper!

    Joe

As a smoker I agree with the ban,but as previously posted this has to be a total ban for every work place not one law us and another for someone else ie:-Houses of Parliament, prisons and hotels.

How can anyone push through a law and exempt themselves from it,this is afterall a workplace(HofP)

I think this is the cause of contention with a lot of smokers, not the fact of the ban itself!

  10. I heard the farmer put plans to build on the patch but the locals kicked off, he lost.

So he burns horse-s***e as a 2 finger salute

Don't know who is right there locals or the farmer.Personally I think putting any buildings on this land would spoil it,though there again piles of horse droppings is a canny welcome to Bedlington!

  11. What does Bedlington need to make it a place worth visiting and buying from ? (hairdressers, takeaways and solicitors excluded). Has the game shop idea died ? We now have a sort of clothes shop (Donnas Allsorts), Bedlington has the parking facilities to support shopping, however no one seems to use it, take a look at Market Place bus stop, and loading bay near monument, even Watsons bus stop seems to be a parking bay.

We have the old Somerfield standing derelict for well over 18 months now, surely Wilkinsons could be a viable option, although with Ashington and Cramlington having one, it doesn't seem worth it.

    Anyone any ideas ?

You just about hit the nail on the head there mate with ashington and cramlington but you missed off blyth! Just wouldn't be viable for any worthwhile shops to open in bedlington, even the charity shops give us a miss!

    Oops sorry nearly forgot morpeth!

  12. You on the pipe, fool?

I'm the grandmaster of the green baize. I got the skillz to pay the bills. When I get amongst the pool balls I'm doing more damage than Ray Winstone in "Scum".

To boil it down and put it in the shell of a nut, I got game.

Sorry mate thats been banned more than baccy, everything fun is being banned,I'll just have to whup your butt at pool, that should be fun

  13. "PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

    TTT!!!!!!"

    I think NOT!

    <_<

Oh go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on .......................................GO ON! You want to really

  14. Wey since most of the pubs are filled with dirty stinking wife beating drunks with pee stained pants that punch`s anything in their way,i think the safest place would be outside anyway..and at least smoking doesn`t turn folk into slurring idiotic beer bellied low lifes who think throwing their kids a quid for a bag of chips is looking after them

At least the smoking ban will help close the pubs..now that would be a result :D

Havent seen many pubs "filled" lately more like 2 or 3 people at the most.Fetch the smoking ban in and there will be even less folk going out,so at least C.K. will at last win a pool game cos he will be playing by himself but there again I'm not so sure

  15. A few rumours going around at present about areas where they might be building new houses

in and around the town. Progress cannot be stopped but we must strive to protect some of the areas, such as 20 acres, horse fields opposite hartlands, areas down towards humford etc.

Talking of protecting areas whats going on with the field on hartford bank, its full of scrap vehicles and horse s**t.Anyone know?
