  1. What would be the nature of said work?

You deliver catalogues through letter boxes with a note to say when you'll be back to retrieve them from the doorstep. You pick up the catalogues and you're paid commission on the orders. Now, commission only might put some people off BUT, if you don't bother trying it you'll get no commission! It's worth a try. I have heard of many people who started off trying to get extra cash to suppliment their wages, and ended up packing in their jobs because they were earning so much more with the catalogues. For example, there's a guy in North Shields who used to work as a labourer in a fish factory who now averages £900 per week. It's probably the easiest job anyone could do AND you can work as many or as few hours as you like depending on how much you want to earn.

  2. A parent recently told me that she was taking her son out of The Bears to take up a free childcare 2.9 years and above place elsewhere. She didn't realise that we also offer this at Bedlington Bears. Not only do we provide this free childcare service, we are also constantly very favourably commented on by the schools who eventually take in our older children. We are told by the schools who take in our older children that the staff can pick out ex- Bears children because they are so far advanced in comparison with the others.

Needless to say, the parent has now left her child in our care and education. Can I also address potential parental concerns re- nursery versus school settings for your 2+ year old. Firstly, Your Nursery Nurse has experience and qualifications in dealing with very small children, the teacher does not.

Secondly, the staff to child ratio for 2+ years olds in a nursery is 1:8. The Governnment are about to change this ratio within schools to 1:13

  3. Shall we change the name of this forum to bedlingtonbears.co.uk? All you ever do on here is bliddy advertise woman.

  4. Bedlington may not have decent shops, recreational facilities or restaurants - but at least we have A SIGN. This puts us in the same league as London, Paris, New York! (and Dazza if you're reading this we are talking about A SINE).

What's the problem with the terrier logo?

'The dog on the sign is all mine all mine, the dog on the sign is all mine...'

  5. History tells us that Ghengis Khan was very tolerant of religion and a pioneer of meritocracy. Meanwhile the xians were also slaughtering all and sundry, they were also a nasty bunch. ;)

Probably the strangest of religions (from our point of view) are those religions in South East Asia that practised headhunting right up until the 1970s. The strangest of the lot are the Ilongot. The others all took a head for various reasons, all based around the idea of incorporating that head's ghost into the tribe's defences. The Ilongot were the only one's who took a head so that they could throw it away. The idea being that throwing away a head that you had severed from a body symbolised and ensured the throwing away of your own personal problems.

Now, these people believe that taking the life of someone that you have no family quarrel with is unforgiveable (i.e the armed forces/war) and so is abortion and euthanasia. My point is, why? when in our culture we practise abortion and debate on euthanasia, do we consider headhunting to be barbaric? All three are 'managed deaths', all three are equally barbaric. And that's not counting the war point.

The burial rites in South East Asia are equally facinating.

  6. I'm still up because him outdoors is still outdoors playing golf in Embelton (if being in the bar is still playing golf). My second business is a B&B . I am now spending all night staying up because nobody else is available to watch it.

  7. Absolutely, but the 'ideal' I was referring to was Communism. I don't think the pursuit of Mammon can be construed as an ideal; if it was, there'd be no Communism.

Are you saying that the pursuit of Mammon precedes Communism? Denzil, you and I are in the same boat - neither of us knows what you are talking about.

  8. CK,

As long as there are poltical references on local election ballot papers people will vote for the National party of their choice, normally. It is much easier than finding out what the person stands for in the locality. If there were just names on ballot papers it would be up to either the person who wants your vote to get his/her message across or the voter to find out what each person stands for. In fact I would make it manditory for every local councillor to be independent because I just do not see the relevance of national parties in local elections. That should ensure the end of the local poltical whip!

Yes but, be careful of wanting lots of independent groups because it smacks of the likes of the ba-arth party of Iraq. These as you know are the strongest independent political group; out of a bunch of independent political groups, who won their place as number one by intimidation. Actually, in that culture, that was a good political ploy because nobody would stand for a weak ruler (government). Here, we have democracy. This doesn't work either because democracy is another political ploy fuelled by neo-liberalism, i.e. the dollar/pound etc.

Marx, I think will have his day in the end. Don't forget, Marx was no communist. He had his house servant and had his children privately educated. He just said the people would eventually get sick of working for cash and would want to work for quality of life. I won't see this in my lifetime (I aspire towards it, as did my parents before me) and I think that quality of life beats cash, however, as Marx implied, it won't happen until

all groups amalgamate into one. This won't happen until the religous zealots on all sides subside. You and I will be long dead by then.

  9. One of the children's parents stopped me in the foyer at Bedlington Bears and said "Wendy, I am a psychic medium. I forsee that in the near future, you will advertise my services on Bedlington.co.uk. My God! she was 100% correct because here it is. Isn't that spooky? Email me if you want her telephone number. Alternatively, come to the door and ask for the number (while learning that your first week's childcare is absolutely free).

  10. bedlington bears has had a boatload of free non-disposable nappies given by galaxy radio. Come and get yours at the door any time. This is a good opportunity to remind you that your first weeks childcare at the bears is totally free.
