  1. Bedlington Bears now offer a 2 hour play session for parents who would like their child to socialize but think the normal half, or full day sessions are too long; or simply want to do the shopping in peace!

The play sessions are bookable up to a day in advance, you don't have to book a series of play sessions therefore you only pay for the sessions you need. :)

  2. mary

The answer is Tom. The apple truck wasn't carrying any apples that day, it had been subcontracted out and had a consignment of deck chairs on board. Also, Tom had another five apples in his satchel that I forgot to mention earlier.

  3. Here's a good one that was in a newspaper quiz over the holiday. It 's not really a riddle but a kids maths question. It went something like this:

Tom has three apples in his pocket. Mary has four apples but has eaten half of one. Tom has eaten three quarters of one of his. An apple lorry has just spilled it's contents and each child can pick up two apples per five seconds with each hand. Tom has got one hand in his pocket and Mary didn't start picking any other apples until she had eaten that half of one. It takes four minutes and thirty five seconds to eat an apple.

Who has got the most apples after ten minutes?

  4. Try this one then..

Tom and his younger sister were fighting. Their mother was tired of the fighting, and decided to punish them by making them stand on the same piece of newspaper in such a way that they couldn't touch each other.

    How did she accomplish this?

She put the newspaper under a door

  5. I moved into Bedlington 6 months ago, although I had a business here for a couple of years. I have found the people to be extremely nice. That is of course apart from you, the big bloke who owns the West Highland Terrier. My dog is big and boisterous, but he is just a pup. He can't help trying to play with other dogs. Obviously, I don't want him to jump up at other dogs, this is something being addressed in his training. I have thought about this seriously and if you kick my dog again I am going to kick you.

  6. what!  :lol::lol::lol:

Me and Junior Bears used to live in the West Indies. We came back 9 years ago to sell our property that we had leased out, to return back with the cash. Unfortunately/fortunately we met Mr Bears and were persuaded to stay in Blighty. We lived in Martinique, which I would return there tonight to if I could, and the Commonwealth of Dominica which we escaped from with our lives. When Mr Bears and I retire we will live in Portugal (his choice). When I am a widow I will return to Martinique.

  7. What part of Bedlington did this happen in?

It was Ridge Farm and Meadowdale. The only good thing about it was that when a policewoman arrived the next day when I'd called, one of my lovely little kids looked at her and said 'Are you a real policeman?' when she said yes, he asked 'Are you a boy or a girl?' She told him she was a girl and he said 'Are you going to catch some naughty people then?' Mouths of babes.

  8. On Monday night my bin was set on fire. We learned about it when the fire brigade came to put it out. The fire brigade pulled the bin away from the side of the building and said that if they'd been any later, the building would have set hold. Next morning when the police came they said that so many bins in Bedlington had been set fire to that night that they had called the police helicopter out.

If you bins-set-alighters are reading this I'd like to ask you how you would feel if half a dozen, or even one of those bins on fire had caught hold of the house and killed the people inside. how would you feel if some of those people were small children?

You were very lucky this time, you didn't kill anybody. THINK ABOUT IT.

  9. It's very modest. We need a total of £600 a year to keep things going and pay for further development. This includes server, registration, software licensing, and a little professional time. There's absolutely no intention of continuing to run bedlington.co.uk on other than a community support basis.

Rather than pack the place out with banners and other unsightly stuff that means six sponsors at £100 a shot. So far we have one, which is funding the current work and software upgrades. It's my intention to get on the phone and ask for sponsorship next week. The first five Bedlington businesses who say yes to < £2 a week for a year get it. After that they go on queue for first refusal for next year.

The sponsor gets home page placement of their 240 x 400 advert (a proper ad., not a banner) and a 1 of 6 basis, and generous mentions elsewhere. We'll do the artwork for them for free, and they can use the ad elsewhere if they want.

What they also get is their own website linked to from the Google #1 on the Bedlington keyword. Which is worth a fortune in the search engine positioning stakes. You could pay a search engine positioning outfit many times £100 and still get nowhere!

The theme is: Keep it very simple, keep it fully transparent, and keep it fully voluntary! :)

  10. see this topic: http://www.bedlington.co.uk/community/index.php?showtopic=492

I'm pleased to announce that Miss Darn has indeed 'Got an offer of Employment'!!!

    Congratulations!

Now its time to go to the income support people and see how much financially worse off you are being employed.

    The system today.....Sucks!

Hope you take the job hun, and show those nosey b*****s (no not b*****ds, i said b*****s, which is alot less insulting than they deserve) that a single mum CAN survive without their petty rules, handouts and their obvious glee at the way they can control your live, lovelife and future!

(nope, not even a hint of a grudge here!)

Well said Mr Darn. Good luck Miss Darn, well done. Anything I can do?

  11. Isn't this the same as the school provision?

I thought the 'early years' degrees have been around for a good few years now?

Do the children at Bedlington Bears get free milk and fruit?

Hope all is going well for you all down there!

    Hi missvic,

Yes, Pre School in nursery operates in the same way as the schools. Come along and have a look! Not sure how long early years degrees have been up and running. Children at the Bears get free milk and fruit at 10.15am. Depending at what time they are there they also get breakfast, lunch and tea. Thanks for asking after us! Hope all's going well for you too.

Don't be a stranger, BB. Always good to hear the latest doings from Forster Ave.

Is that husband of yours still mucking about with his model trains or toy soldiers?

Yeap! He is presently scrutinising the undercarriages of 2 model tanks as I write this. I would love to know what goes on in his mind sometimes.

  12. Son found a great little site called www.myheritage.com you upload a photo of yourself and it scans it and tells you which celebrity you most resemble. I wouldn't have mentioned it, only I was dead chuffed with mine. Caroline Winberg! there you go. I hadn't heard of her either. Mr Bears was John Cleese (the scanner must be able to read personality as well). Son wasn't too happy as he turned out to be Jack Osbourne. Liz, who cleans for the Bears says she's going to upload a photo of her dog, to see which celeb it most resembles.

In true Bears tradition let me tell you about Liz who comes in 3 times a week and whizzes around like a Mr Sheen advert. Liz has her own cleaning business and her team of girls will come to your house on a regular or one-off basis and you will not recognise it afterwards. Highly recommended. If you need her contact Bedlington Bears.

Anyway, who do you look like? get on to myheritage .com and let us all know.

  13. And hows Bedlington Bears doing? they still got that 'one week free' thing going?

And Ichiban Martial Arts.... not been mentioned for quite some time! (07910074002 for the latest offers!)

Why don't you give me a poster to put up in the foyer?

  14. Do Bedlington Bears* !*!@# in the woods?

*Where your first week's childcare is, I'm led to believe, absolutely free.

    Thank you CK!

I'd actually posted a notice in the announcement section through the week for tomorrow, but it hasn't gone in yet because it hasn't yet been moderated. There must be a backlog! The notice said that we are having an open day tomorrow, and if you have a 3-4 year old little one you get not just your 1st week free, but five mornings per week for 33 weeks of the year free. Can't be bad eh?

If anyone's interested, it entails 5 mornings of educational childcare, not just play. We follow the same curriculum as schools, but nursery Pre School staff have had more dedicated training for early years than teachers. Teacher's training has always, until recently, revolved around 4 years+. As for the Bears, the Government wants all nurseries to be headed by a level 4 by 2010. Bedlington Bears is already headed by a level 8.

Nice to talk CK, I haven't posted for a while, waiting to see if the site gets back to normal. In answer to your question, Bedlington Bears generally don't get as far as the woods. The potty-trainers usually get as far as the toilet floor if we are lucky.

  15. Glenston25.jpg

Here's a bit of a photo quiz for you all...

    Where is it?

    What is it?

    Is it new?

I can't confirm any correct answers (with the exception of the location) as I don't know myself mind. I just saw it and thought you may be able to quench my nosey nature.

It's a newly constructed underground house

  16. Hang on... i see a pattern comming out here....

i moan about the ironing never getting done, you ask for a new ironing board and iron, i moan the floor needs hoovering, we get a new hoover, the kids need something to look after to teach them responsiblity, we get a hamster, rabbit, 6 fish, a cat and a puppy. now a new kitchen center is opening in bedlington and its just what we need?? i seem to remember commenting on the quality of miss darns cooking not long back, think i've said too much????

    hang on......

i do the hoovering, ironing, look after the rabbit, fish, hamster, cat and puppy AND i do the cooking........

    Hmmmmnnnnn..................

    (Que Miss Darn!!!)

Just hope that it is a new kitchen you need from the kitchen centre and not a new house from the estate agents
