Watching the poor father of the murdered WPC on the news, it stuck me that we need to arm our bobbies with hand guns, shot guns, AK-47s, land to air missiles, howisters, WMDs, etc to handle the scum merchants out there.

Hang the bar stewards I say. Hang 'em high

Yes, tooling up the coppers is obviously the way forward. I can't think of a single recent example where an innocent person has been shot repeatedly through the head by gung-ho bizzies who then lied about it afterwards.

Well, except for that Brazilian lad.

This at the hands of trained specialist firearms officers.

I wouldn't trust the majority of numpties that make up our brave bobbies with anything more than the big stick they carry now.

I do hope that you are not referring to the fine body of men (and women) without whom you would be unemployed?

Thank you sir.

I agree with Mr CK, there's some fish-heeds wearing the blue uniform.

However, the chap from Brazil was not legal, so why worry. I mean it's not

like he's a WMD expert........cover up. You make me sick

Not really. Official version eg "Sir, please stop". Chap runs off with a bag; officers

open fire to bring down a possible murderer. No problem, thank you.

All figures count.......

getting this topic back onto a more serious note, heres my view on the subject:

should police be armed? damn right!, but only in the correct curcumstances...

i dont see a reason why 50% of our officers (the cream of the crop) should be trained with and carry firearms in their vehicles, however, do they really need to carry them?

in my opinion the vast majority of police call outs do not require armed responce, but sending two unarmed wpc's to a silent alarm on a travel agents who deal with thousands of pounds of currency is in my view ludacrus.(or however its spelled).

if ever a situation called for armed officers in attendance it was that one, as with all banks, cash and carrys, racecourses and any where else someone would go to steal high value items.

however a 16 year old lad pinching sweets from the corner shop does not warrent an armed responce.

i think the police need to use their grey matter and decide on a priority system for call-outs, and have firearms in all police vehicles just in case the need arrises for the officers to defend themselves and my sweets from those thieving lot who try to lift them.

but since when did my opinion count?

Personally I think anyone caught doing a crime (with the exception of speeding) should be shot, no questions asked.
