Newbedders Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 A sad loss to blues music. Glad to have met you.
mercuryg Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 Indeed; few in the industry deserve the accolade 'legend' - BB King certainly does.
Ovalteeny Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 A sad, sad loss and one of the true greats in any style of music. My favourite BB King song is Hummingbird, check out this live performance from the Letterman Show in 1983.https://youtu.be/OuMn2s3DZ5Q
Maggie/915 Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 We saw him about 1998 .Even then there appeared to be a doc at the side of the stage.Fantastic music, great voice.
Symptoms Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 A truly great bluesman. I preferred his early work (very late 40s and 50s) which was authentic traditional blues. I didn't fancy his stuff after this period as it did become influenced by the soul scene prevalent at the time (60s) and with the inclusion of loads of horns in his band; he did have a great voice right to the end. I saw him at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1978.
