Blank Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Wey since most of the pubs are filled with dirty stinking wife beating drunks with pee stained pants that punch`s anything in their way,i think the safest place would be outside anyway..and at least smoking doesn`t turn folk into slurring idiotic beer bellied low lifes who think throwing their kids a quid for a bag of chips is looking after them At least the smoking ban will help close the pubs..now that would be a result

sarah24 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 i think some pubs may end up closing as they will lose alot of business once this ban comes in

Hamburger Pimp Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 You on the pipe, fool? I'm the grandmaster of the green baize. I got the skillz to pay the bills. When I get amongst the pool balls I'm doing more damage than Ray Winstone in "Scum".To boil it down and put it in the shell of a nut, I got game.

Joe Rooney Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Previous topic title:Smoking ban: it wont lastEdit: Topic merged with existing.heres why it wont work there would be a lot more violence in pubs due to stress of not having a sig and another thing is that most people that go to pubs that are non smokers actually like the smellanother thing is that as soon as the ban comes the pubs will shut down as there will be know one goingand without the smell of smoke the pub will prob smell of swet and urine and who wants to sit and smell thatLast year, when smoking in restaurants and bars was banned, a group of Calgary owners announced that they would ignore the new anti smoking laws. Their rationale was the same ones you are quoting now. Customers would stay away, businesses would fail, Calgary would become an evening ghost town, etc, etc. After a few weeks, about 40 or 50 of the most strident anti law owners were hauled into court. Some were discharged, most were fined a few hundred dollars, and sent out to repent their evil ways!A year later, and Calgary is still booming. Restaurants and bars are packed, and no one seems to have noticed the absence of smokers. The air is fresh, and you can taste your food.So much for doom and gloom. Either smokers have just decided to get with the program, or there is a whole new clientele crowding the bars and restaurants. But as for "the bars will all close." Certainly not in Calgary, and as long as people need relaxation, and a pleasant atmosphere to meet and socialise in, then the bars and pubs will continue to prosper!Joe
Monsta® Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 why don't they ban other things that are bad for your health like chocolate, crisps, lard, shot guns, knifes, sticks, cars, buses, trucks, trains etc etc we can all go back to living like the native indians of america and run every were! only the peace pipe would have to be banned!
