  1. I'm going to upset the apple cart here: I'm not registered to vote. Reason? I honestly and truly believe it won't make a single bit of difference if I vote or not. I have no reliable way of knowing the outcome of either vote, (I certainly don't believe any of the drivel spouted on the TV and newspapers and online and in leaflets posted through my door.) and therefore don't have the relevant facts I need to make an informed decision. How can I say this? Past experience. Too many times have these people told me things will happen when they get in office, then brought up an excuse as to why it didn't. (I don't have any examples, and no longer care enough to research any. We all know its true.) and then just go on to do whatever the hell they like anyway for the next 4 years. These same people are now trying to get me to decide if we should be in or out, and spouting all this bullshit at me based on their own opinion and facts that can be written several ways to back up several completely different stories, and I've had enough of it. And frankly so have many MANY other people. I'm not voting because I honestly couldn't care less if we are in or out (Even though in the poll above I voted to leave. If a gun was to my head, that would be what I voted) And frankly, until they put a "None of the above" on the ballot papers during the elections, I refuse to be a part of it. I'm just going to do what the rest of the masses are doing, and refusing to turn up until I have an option worth voting for. Why else is there such a poor turnout? Those who want to make a difference are simply voting for the opposite party of the one they definitely DON'T want in, and where is the use in that? All that happens then is the 2 losing parties (by overall vote) club together to become a party that wasn't on the ballot paper, wasn't voted for, and wasn't wanted. When shit like that can happen, where is the point in a majority system? (Sorry I brought up elections in an "In Out" vote discussion, but it was relevant as to my reasoning.) If the country turns to shit because I got to a point where I refuse to care, and didn't vote, I don't see that as my failing, I see it as a failing of the system.

  2. Magnificent turnout, Eggy! Round about the 1% mark, and they didn't even have to get off their backsides to vote! Let's hope it will be better on Thursday and that bad weather lack of appropriate clothing doesn't put a damper on the number going to the polling booth. Friday should be very interesting here! I can hear the excuses for why it went the way it did - regardless of the way it goes - as i write. I'm afraid this thread may have a very long life.

  3. Lets be Frank about this :- And now, the end is near; And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I'll say it clear, I'll state my case, of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full. I've traveled each and every highway; And more, much more than this, I did it my way. Regrets, I've had a few; But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway, And more, much more than this, I did it my way. Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way. I've loved, I've laughed and cried. I've had my fill; my share of losing. And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that; And may I say - not in a shy way, "Oh no, oh no not me, I did it my way". For what is a man (or a Canny Lass), what has he/she got? If not himself/herself, then he/she has naught. To say the things he/she truly feels; And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows - And did it my way! Yes, it was my way. The poll says - Remain = 2, Brexit = 15 Proffesor Michael Dougan's says (and if the Brexit 15 can't stand to listen to another 24 mins of this Remain or Brexit debate vote then skip to 10mins 40secs and open your minds to the next 20 secs) - do it his way

  5. The two most vocal people in this thread, and many others EU related, have already chosen not to live in the UK. So does that mean the rest of us who DO live here don't give a damn, or are we just do saturated with all the media drivel that we've given up having an opinion?

  6. Metal work out with the dustbin last night. Still there this morning Gone now! Less than 24 hours. It is a pity those ceramic tiles are not worth money. I am left wondering how much money the metal is worth.

  8. Just because you don't like the cold does not mean that everybody has to dislike it. Here in Sweden, we have a saying - There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing - If you don't have the right clothing you stay indoors. Likewise, just because you would be so upset about the weather that you would 'turn' a bit antisocial and you would go out and rape someone (that is what you're suggesting, isn't it?), doesn't mean that everybody would do the same thing. Really, 3g, there are perfectly good medicines available today. Why are you allowing yourself to suffer?

  9. You forgot the bit about them being welcomed by George Osborne (who was on his way to punish local pensioners by clawing back a chunk of their pensions as punishment for not voting for his forthcoming massive EU one). Anyway, despite the fact that UK nationals living in other parts of the EU have no say in constitutional matters there no matter how long they have been resident, George immediately granted these Bongobongans rights to determine how our country is governed for at least the next 1000 years. When challenged on whether this was fair he sniffed "I think you are being a trifle pedantic there; after this week you won't actually have a recognisable country to concern your inconsequential plebeian self about". He then went on to explain how Dave and he had dreamed the whole wheeze up in an idle moment at Eaton when they'd got tired of abusing younger pupils. "We worked out that there were sufficient gullible people to believe in this touchy-feely United Europe twaddle the first time around, but we had to fix it so's they'd never get another vote. You know the supply of people who can be consistently persuaded to vote against all their very own interests and trash any prospect of their own economic advancement has been pretty much cornered by the Labour Party, though it is going down fast there too. That's why we desperately need to end British democracy right now, because we'd die before we were forced by the electorate to go out and get a real job." ...he chortled.
