  1. Lets face it, presto's car park is big enough, never found a lack of spaces there! Shouldn't have to park in tavern car park, (don't think I would anyway for fear of vandals).

However I don't think the Tavern is doing itself any favours, I agree with Pete and his customer relations comment. The tavern is coming across as isolating itself. After all, I doubt the car park is heaving with customer's cars.

  2. Why do we all bite at the Denzel's remarks? I figure some positive re-enforcement will crack his twisty exterior and a lovely PC, gregarious Denzel will emerge like a gorgeous butterfly energing from a dry and bitter chrysalis.

I think that we should use this thread to record all the nice things Denzel has said on here or to us lucky enough to know him, the nice things he has done.

    Arrr.

    I'll start shall I....

He sometimes calls me 'sweetheart' or 'darling.' Its nice. I like it (cos I'm not a feminist.)

  3. Caution, blowing of own trumpet in progress.

Not at all. It's a fact. I did a job that I was overqualified for and when they found out I was applying for a teacher job they wanted rid. Anyway, I've worked really hard to get the qualifications I have so I'm not ashamed of mentioning them.

(This comment coming from the Denzel!)

At least I have a reason to big myself up for once.

I don't think I'm better than everybody else and put their comments down to create a more interesting persona on this forum....hmm who could I be talking about!!

  4. I just don't understand why people sit at home all day bored when they could be either working or going and learning again at college. Fair enough I havent got the best of jobs but at least Im at college doing something about it. Everyone does what they want to do but who wants to sit round doing nowt when you could be out earning money, the unemployed population get it too easy in our days but what would they all do if benefits didnt exist, they'd have to work!!Dont want you to think Im aiming that comment at you swalnalla but theres alot of school leavers who go on the dole and then end up in prison coz they'd rather commit crimes than go and get a job, how pathetic!!

You're not thinking deep enough bar lass. Me and Miss Vic r qualified teachers who often sit at home 'doing nowt' at the minute. That's because employers don't like to employ overqualified people who just leave as soon as something they really want comes along. Also it would look pap on our CV, like we aren't commited to teaching, so we do supply which, at the minute is on the quiet side which results in lots of sitting at home, (Never doing'nowt' I assure you.) Not everybody does it out of choice...I would much rather be working but the fact is there is great competition for qualified jobs in this area.

It could be that some people have a different set of values Barlass, a few years ago I was informed that I had cancer, that changed everything. Career, housing, cars, money and even education aren't important any more and having the occasional luxury of sitting around doing 'nowt', I love it. :o

Good for you. Everybody wants the good life. It depends on what you think the good life is. Some people are money motivated and the latest car or the swishest property will make them happy. I think as long as I have friends and family around me, I'm doing something I see to be worthwhile and I have enough cash to go out for a pint at the weekend I'll be happy. I also see a little bit of stress in your job to be a good thing to motivate, but I cannot see the point in so much stress that it causes health problems and worry. No job is worth that, life's too short. The head of the PGCE course at Newcsatle Uni left a really high paid job in Jan last year to go and be self sufficient in France and I think that's so admirable.

  5. nice shot of the market tavern there...for a minute i thought we were gonna see the 'painter' in action...

is that of someone we know???

Some of us are 'fortunate' enough to know him. BUt no he doesn't post on here. (He is usually too drunk!)

(The shirt is replay it cost him what I spend on my wardrobe in a year!)

  6. "God forbid that I be condemned to listen to, or read only those with whom I agree

    .

I often find CK or Denzel, or several others a little mundane, or even boring. But I look forward to their opinions. They occasionally surprise, and delight me."

I find the colonel and denzels contributions to this community anything but boring. Indeed i find denzels sense of humour, helps to brighten my other wise dull days as i check the community every day. I have been accessing this site for almost a year and whilst i have not met either of the afore mentioned gentleman, calling these upstanding citizens boring and dull as joe has done is a little harsh. As far as i have seen denzel and the colonel epitomise the spirit of this site and of bedlington!!!

(This is my first post but will def not be my last as I have been riled into action by Joe)

Hey lads, introducing the founding member of your fan club!!

;) brace yourselves for expanding heads when they read wanderers post!

  7. No problem Joe, we've all been metrified. The old Westridge school had a large mosaic of St. Cuthbert in the lobby, I was just wondering what what happened to it after the transfer of the school and renamed Benedick Biscuit. ?

I worked there 2003-2005 and there are no mosaics anywhere, not that I saw.
