Surely the pound will have recovered by then? I mean, according to some, it had two weeks ago. But it really hadn't. Yes, dollars are fun at the moment.

3G; at least be honest, you have a massive problem with Muslims. You have a massive problem with immigrants. You believe that the refugees fleeing a war torn country where they would likely be killed are all ISIS sleepers. You'd fit in well at Britain First. Furthermore, you DO shout down others; you DO pick and choose information that suits your agenda. Perhaps you are so wrapped up in your own self belief that you don't see it? I don't believe I've met you, but sadly I have an image of you as the self righteous pompous oaf at the bar whom everyone avoids. I wonder why? Oh, and the pound still over 76p on the dollar. I'm sure you told us it had recovered.

Had a good, thorough, read of the article by the way, 3G, and there's plenty of read between the lines stuff in there, which basically says 'nobody knows what the future holds'. I especially liked this line, in reference to one method: "It worked back in the 19th century with repeal of the corn laws, dramatically improving people’s lives, so why not now?" Probably because that was the 19th century, and this isn't. Are we really reduced to considering economic strategies that worked almost 200 years ago, when the world - and the UK - was a very, very different place? If so, don't you find that just a tad embarrassing?

Pauline, I'm not so sure these tunnels are anything other than urban myth, unfortunately; Adam Hogg posted a picture of the entrance to one of the alleged tunnels under Tesco recently, I believe on the Bedlington Matters Facebook page, but also stated it carried service cables or similar; if so, its destination must be known. Interesting story, none the less!

"especially in the time of Brexit when property could become worth much less than what it was bought for" What? How dare you suggest Brexit may have a negative effect on ANYTHING! It won't; everything will be hunky dory, Britain will be Great again and become the world's leading economy, and the rest of Europe will come begging on it's knees to be our friend again! Ask 3G.
-
"Finland showdown with Brussels after Finns rule 77% of Iraqi migrants could be sent home" Brilliant; will they slaughter all the Jews next? I know, let's all go back to the 1930's, and turn to far right wing ideology! It worked back then, of course... 3G, have you joined Britain First yet? They like your sort.

Hey 3G, you didn't pick up on the 'read between the lines' bit in that quote, did you? Of course, having journalistic experience, I'm good at it! I'm referring to this bit: 'so far'; that means the writer is fully accepting that things may yet go tits up. so to speak! It's always worth reading things carefully to pick up on little titbits such as this, rather than taking everything at face value. There, a nice tip for the future. Poundwatch: 76 and bit pence this morning. Getting ever closer to the 65p pre-possible-brexit level (no, not really....)

The reason you have a calls package with your net provider is because they use your phone line to supply you, so they are keeping your phone line live.

Bloody Eskimos, coming over there, taking your jobs.
-
No 3G, I just like to remind you you were wrong! It's fun!

"there is nothing to recover from - the pound is fine just where it is." What? The reason I keep posting updates on the pound/dollar is because, among your things that would not happen, you clearly stated it was recovering. It's not.

That's brilliant; I think I'll try that, I'm sure they will be more than happy for me not to pay my tax on time. So, l "If there is more than a handful of genuine refugees - as you seem to believe - then why are they practically all young males?" So, let me get this straight, you actually think that there are only a handful of refugees? Seriously? Here's the short answer to your question: they're not. There are figures out there - you're good at accessing links, so go on, have a look. Unless, of course, you'd prefer to link to a picture on the internet and say 'look, they are all men!' Which is a Britain First style of trolling, and you don't want to be associated with them, do you?

"How many rapes and other atrocities have Muslim "refugees" committed in Sweden this week?" Good question; how many have they committed in the the UK this week, 3G? Actually, I take it back, it's a ridiculous question, for a few reasons; first, you fall into the old trap of believing the Daily Mail nonsense that there are no refugees (your " " denotes this, or why use it) and second, you also repeat the old mantra that these people are coming over here, raping our women, and committing widespread atrocities. You probably also believe they are taking our jobs, stealing our dogs and eating them, and perhaps living in luxury in billion pound mansions in Knightsbridge. Of course, all of the above is bollocks. This is the sort of comment that makes me wonder whether I should actually pay any attention to your apparently well thought-out and considered comments. Perhaps I should make a direct comparison to Damascus, which has been reduced to rubble; you seriously compromise your credibility with nonsense such as this.

"BTW I have not the faintest idea of what an "Oxford comma" is! " Really? That does surprise me, as you appear to know everything about everything else. For the record, it's a sort of one of these - , Today's recovering pound versus US dollar watch: 76 and a half pence! The recovery continues apace.
-
"Rather than companies relocating to the EU as was claimed the reverse is happening:" That's one company; the word 'companies' refers to more than one. I could easily find you links about how many of those at the head of UK business are very concerned about Brexit, and believe it to be very bad for the UK economy, but you could do that also, and you are well aware of it. I'll be more than happy if businesses across the world suddenly relocate here, it would be great for the country as we all know, but I'd like them to be those that don't up sticks and leave when the government isn't nice to them about unpaid taxes, like these guys did last time.

Aha now you see I know you're lying; the free top up stops at 2pm.
-
Malcolm, you mean he bought a pint for both of you?
-
Webtrekker, that's no way to talk about our boys in blue....
-
Of course, 3G, I'll talk about something I know about: the pound. 76p on the dollar today. I hope I have to wait ages for this recovery you assure me is happening. Oh, and the Duckworth Leeis method; I know about that. It's fun.

Oh ARM are brilliant, a classic example of making the most of a fast moving technology market. My disappointment is that its British only in having been founded here; it's a multinational (nothing wrong with that); I'd like to see the date Japanese bankers invest in UK manufacturing.
-
Would be nice if the dumb Japanese investors were to put their money into UK businesses that actually manufacture something here, rather than those that deal almost solely in intellectual property, and get the hard work done cheaply abroad. Oops, I wasn't going to comment on political things; perhaps I'll make an exception for those I know something about, or who happen to have been clients of mine.
-
yeah, is that a pig i see at 15000ft?
-
The Red Lion is certainly an element of such, yes. Indeed, it's great exchange rate in the Lion today; a pint for £1.69.
-
I am! That 76p will go towards helping the local economy.
