  1. Happy Birthday Vic. Sorry my congrats are late. Not been on the site recently cos of all my radio commitments. Hope you had a good one. John.
  2. Good luck with the book
  3. Dear All. Remember. Ex Bedlingtonian Paul Mann is on Synergy Drive tomorrow night (Thurs) after 5pm, on the day his latest novel "The Leek Club" is launched on Amazon Kindle. But beware. The "warts & all" semi auto-biographical look at Bedlington in the 50s is not the sort of book you would buy for your Granny! We will be speaking to him from his home in Limerick USA, north of Boston.
  4. Thanks for the kind words Pete. The pleasures all ours
  5. Dear All You might remember reading Paul Manns thread about his new novel "The Leek Club". I`m going to have the pleasure of speaking to him on Thursday, on the wireless, after 5pm. The "Leek Club" is launched on Amazon Kindle that day & is a semi-biographical look at Bedlington in the 50s. I think we could call this a Synergy Scoop
  6. A few technical probs this morning but we soon got rid of them. Good to hear the Terriors on the wireless. Back live tomorrow morning with Colin & the Rev. Derry Twomey of St Cuthbert`s. Listen live on 87.7fm or www.synergyradio.co.uk
  7. Bedlington on the map again http://www.newspostl...ation_1_4289326
  8. Many thanks Alan Shearer: http://www.journallive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-news/2012/02/29/alan-shearer-launches-synergy-radio-station-in-bedlington-61634-30426717/
  9. That`s the one Vic. James & the chaps at Bitingedge (who are kindly doing our website for us) are putting on the finishing touches. It will be up in the next day or two. Got a number of Bedders things lined up. Thanks for the support.
  10. Dear All It must be close now, cos we`ve set up a Facebook account: https://www.facebook...page_fan_invite Give us a "Like" sometime please. Oh & a Twitter account: https://twitter.com/#!/SNRG_radio Very exciting!
  11. Dear All. Please find attached pix from Open Evening. We are looking for people to staff our front desk when we are on air. This would be to take calls, meet & greet the many guests etc. etc. If you would like to help please pm me. It would be great to have you on board.
  12. Keith Muter has the farm & riding school on the Barrington Road.
  13. Thanks Foxy. It was great to meet everyone. At Last!
  14. Dear All. A final reminder about our Open Evening: Monday February 6th, 18:30-20:30. Venue: Synergy Studios, 90a Front Street East, Bedlington. NE22 5AE. Refreshments provided. Look forward to saying hello.
  15. Dear All In the coming weeks, from time to time, I`m gonna ask for your help with programme ideas as they pop up in my mind. What bizarre things did your Mam used to say, or warn you about, when you were young, that stuck in your mind? Here`s my starter. But for obvious reasons I haven`t made my mind up if I will use it. Especially on a tea time programme: "Dont sit on that cold step... You`ll get piles"!! As I said please try & keep them broadcastable! What am I letting loose!
  16. A Bedlington-based community radio station has been given the go-ahead to begin broadcasting on FM and on-line. Ofcom, the government's broadcasting authority has granted "˜Synergy' a 28-day licence to go on air as from Saturday March 3. The licence will enable the station to broadcast to thousands of households throughout south east Northumberland. For organisers South Northumberland Radio Group, news that its licence application had been approved comes after nearly four years of fund-raising to build and equip a professional grade studio in readiness for the broadcast. Group chairman Colin Heathcote said: "We're absolutely thrilled to be given this opportunity to provide a genuinely accessible community radio station for the area. "We have raised some £20,000 from councils and local and national funders such as the Community Foundation, Bernicia, the Co-op and the Big Lottery Fund as well as personal donations from supporters and group members. "The group has been very fortunate in having some magnificent volunteers and local contractors who've helped convert the former British Gas showroom in Bedlington's Front Street East into a studio. "We've arranged a "˜meet and greet' session at the studio on Monday February 6 at 6.30pm to talk to volunteers about programming and we're looking forward to hearing from local groups and organisations who want to use Synergy to promote their services and activities." Listeners will be able to tune into "˜Synergy' on 87.7FM or on-line: www.synergyradio.co.uk
  17. Many thanks everyone. Vic. Streaming is tied into the licence, so therefore will begin on the first day at: www.synergyradio.co.uk Hope you will tune in sometime!
  18. Dear All. A couple of hours ago we received some excellent news: Ofcom have approved our first 28 day broadcast licence. Synergy will be live from our Bedlington studio: Saturday March 3rd on 87.7FM Hope to have your company then
  19. Found a better SV700 clip. It has it`s clothes on this time: A trained ear tells me this guy is running a damaged tape.
  20. Now you`ve started somthing Threegee. This is the beauty I did my very first edit on; Just listen to that Helical scan head drum. How geeky is that a comment! The Shibaden SV 700. Only mono but steady as a rock! I`ve still got the BASF tape somewhere. Insert edit out was a bit tricky though. There was a 5 sec. difference between audio & video out. Ironically the prog. was about leisure provision in the new WDC & featured footage of the new Ashington Leisure Centre. I was a student, then technician in the TV Production unit at Ashington Tech when I first used this kit. The 640 colour vtr: http://3.bp.blogspot...510+A88+-+3.JPG was rubbish. Used to go through heads like nobodies business. Made a packet for Tyne Video though! I then progressed on to the Ampex 1" highband machine http://www.rewindmus...ampexvr5003.jpg Very Happy Days. Many thanks to my old Lecturer Dave Rixon!
  21. Just a reminder that the "Dark Day" in Bedlington`s history is well documented here in History Hollow: http://www.bedlington.co.uk/community/topic/3330-synergy/
  22. Pete. Just stumbled upon this thread. This website might be of interest: http://www.transdiff...g/tmc/cityroad/ My first recollections of TTTV are the One O`clock Show live from City Road studios. That was the day I was bitten by the TV/Radio production bug which shaped the rest of my life. Now our local independent TV station comes from a shoebox in Gateshead!
  23. As Brettly & Keith said RAF Typhoon as reported on Look North
  24. Happy Birthday. Bit late but I hope you had a good day!
  25. RAF have put their hands up for it.
