Play Major Retailers At Their Own Game
I remember reading somewhere that Asda created the smell of freshly baked bread in there stores to encourage customers to buy bread from their bakery counter. This being the case, then we can only assume that the now closed Netto were trying to promote the sale of toilet rolls in their store.

St Cuthberts Church
There seems to be some kind of disease around that area.It started in the nearby School and is obviously very infectious as it spread to a local Garage and now it looks like there is a possibility the Community Centre is coming down with the illness. I'm not sure what the disease is called but suppose we could call it "Incompetent Council" until it is more clearly identified. Maybe things could look a lot brighter after the recession if the Government introduces a Slum Clearance programme.

England Keeper
Keith,I agree with everything you say about Harper and Green but do you not think Harper may lack a bit of ambition? He had been sitting on the subs bench for months on end while Given was enjoying excellent form. If I had Harpers skill I wouldn't be second string to anyone and would have moved on. I think we could see Given doing just that before the new season begins, even though he is being paid megabucks.

Wartime Bedlington
Looks like the end of May could be the next ficticious target so how about if Roger Waters built his wall around this site, perhaps it could become a tourist attraction.

The Wall
Saw Roger Waters performing The Wall at the o2 arena in London last sunday night,it was amazing. The first time I saw him It was at the City Hall in Newcastle 1968, he's still going after all these years, wonder how many of todays "stars" go as long as that.

The Election Results
Stephen, thanks for the explanation on why so many votes have been lost but surely it is a bit long winded and could have been edited down to fewer words: LYING, TWO, FACED, SPINELESS.

Does The Community Centre Have A Future?
Another derilect site on its way to the heart of the conservation area, even if the legal issues get sorted will the place be a success? The council run golf club flopped (their admission it was running at a loss) and then became a success when it was sold off to the members, and is now making money. Does this not tell us something, This same council that has c**cked up with the planning permission for Elliots Garage and the Church School (they admit the fact but blame the old Wansbeck District Council) who, to use their well worn phrase "They don't exist any longer" so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to sort this one out. Just to rub salt in the wound, the money for the sale of the golf club ended up with, "They don't exist any longer" so Bedlington got nowt. Not a very good track record, but keep trying.

So do you have a sense of humour?

I think you must have all gone mad, surely Judy Garland gets it in one with SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW and the Wizard of Oz could sort out Merlins problems on the Yellow Brick Road in Ridge Terrace .

The Traffic In And Out Of Meadowdale Middle School
Merlin, your wasting your time complaining,at a meeting this week it was suggested that there should be MORE yellow lines painted on the road along there.I can't see the point of yellow lines when the one's that are already in place are ignored throughout the town. As I've said in previous posts, the hotspot of illegal and dangerous parking is within 50 yards of the police station and nowts done so what chance have you got.
