  1. That would most likely have been under BUDC then Pilgrim?  The unholy Trinity that became Wansbeck District Council was formed at the LGR in the early 70’s and from then on the lid was kept firmly closed on regeneration monies for Bedlington!!!!!

The upgrades seen in the 90’s cost £90K and I was part of a group that brought in another £30K ostensibly to resolve the ‘shutter’ problem on Front Street.

  2. Which refurbishment Pilgrim?

I know of the one done in the 90's and there was another larger one done with Heritage Lottery funding starting around 2009.

I posted this in Feb 2014........

Look at the poster.........this BEFORE NCC claimed to have spent £2 million quid on the Bedlington refit!

  3. The table looks a bit wrong to me.......???

I know France has a minimum wage of about 9.61 Euros......I worked for it for a while!

With the exchange rate thats about £7.60.  Minimum wage here is £6.70 which is 8.40E.

So question is why would economic migrants want to walk through other EU countries with higher wages to get here?

  4. "otherwise this could become one of the longest running and most painful threads on the board,"

    Otherwise?????????

The amount of debt which will be....and......is.....and.... has been....racked up by the EU will be eye watering......

Its like knowing what will happen to the Titanic and refusing to get off at the stops at Cherbourg or Cobh as she sailed onwards.......

  5.   With so many people unhappy with the state of our streets and open spaces a group has come together to see just what can be done to help.

They are holding an open public meeting at the Bedlington Community Centre on Front Street next Wednesday 4th May at 6.00pm.

If you are concerned about the way our Town looks at times and want to actually do something about it please come along.  You may already do a bit of litter picking in your particular area, if so we would like to hear about that too so we can make a map of the areas residents are already helping out with and areas which might need some sort of concerted community effort to get back into a good state.

  7.  I cannot stand people who think they're worse off than everybody else. My mate Fred is brilliant. He had a bad accident where he lost his voice and both legs. Does he make a song and dance about it?      Certainly not !
