Mr D, I know you can give as good as you get! As for a poker night, pity we couldn't organise a proper tournament. There is a big empty building in the middle of Front Street where it could have been held!
-
Merlin, You might be right if you widened the area a little bit to…..Bedlingtonshire! Cambois had their scheme cut in half BEFORE the election!

If everyone switches their electric heaters on we might be able to 'help' global warming and melt ski slopes quicker!

If anyone else would like to contact this firm and leave Mr Collins a message…….. Pity it doesn't have a drop down menu for 'a couple of million Geordies want to have a word with you bonny lad! Pick a winda!' http://www.directski.com/go/contactus?session=906e87e5c32b9963ecd5fd74d25b541d

Can someone get a Facebook campaign going to make this firm retract this stereotypical slur?

Bit of a hiccup as I believe they have had some of their funding pulled which has resulted in some of the ancillary stuff not being done now on the major parts of the route. Also bridge link has been scrapped so I don't know what is to happen with the proposed route down past Church Lane. The maps have had several changes I think! Sign of the times I suppose?????

My recipe for a quick quiche. Buy a ready made pastry, round if possible. Use a flattish pie dish and fit pastry into it. Mix 4-5 eggs with a bit of milk and seasoning, enough to fill dish. Chop up a few mushrooms, onion and bacon, or use lardons. Sprinkle grated cheese onto the bottom of the pastry then add bacon and mushrooms. Pour over the egg and milk mixture adding a little more cheese to the top. Small tomatoes cut in half can be added now, cut side up. Whack into a pre-heated oven, about ¾'s heat range, for about 20 mins or until cooked. I normally watch the pastry to tell if cooked as the middle sets better as it cools down and my lot like it a bit on the sloppy side. I have used chopped up sausages instead of bacon (half cook them first) and also flavoured the egg/milk mix with curry powder etc. Best served cold as far as I am concerned.

Pete, Brian, So what do you classify as British these days as we have rushed headlong into embracing multiculturism and a global economy? I think nationality is, by and large, a birth right but that isn't really what is being talked about.

The biggest supermarket groups look to be trying to take over everyone's lives from cradle to grave as they expand away from their core activities. Banking, insurance, funerals etc. Expect a Tesco village or hospital wing somewhere near you soon! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/property/propertynews/7633824/Tesco-mini-village-building-plans-will-make-it-more-powerful-than-government.html Loosing this car park for universal parking will inevitably result in pressure and overflow on the other two small sites and what is the rider NCC attach to their introduction of parking charges, there has to be demonstrable need for parking space. Overflowing free car parks just ramp up the likelihood of charges being introduced! This will also result in even more thoughtless parking and the back streets will become rat runs! Again NCC can hold hand on heart and say they are trying to sort out problem parking by painting yellow lines everywhere and forcing people into paying car parks. Considering they are about to take over the roles of traffic wardens and start issuing tickets council seems to hold all the cards! There are to be public meetings about the NCC parking strategy and here are the dates and venues. Interesting to see Bedders not on the list but the Partnership is trying to rectify that! Morpeth – Monday 1st November, Corn Exchange, Morpeth Town Hall Hexham – Monday 15th November, Council Chamber, Prospect House, Hexham Berwick – Thursday 18th November, The Guildhall, Berwick Ashington – Monday 22nd November, Bothal Suite, Ashington Leisure Centre, Ashington Blyth – Tuesday 23rd November, Briardale Community Centre, Blyth . Cramlington – Thursday 25th November, Cramlington Community Centre Alnwick – Monday 29th November, Council Chamber, Alnwick

I don't think anyone can rationally argue to maintain the Foreign Aid budget never mind up it, certainly for the next few years! I don't even believe we really need the full remit of cuts, they won't even do what they are supposed to do and that's putting our financial affairs in order. Look at the overspending by the likes of the MoD it's astronomical. Why ring fence the NHS, with a budget that size there has to be savings to be made without disrupting service delivery? Claw back some of the Sir Humphrey's golden goodbyes as well! As for the EU, it should really be classed as 'Not Fit For Service' and I say that as someone who supported it initially! It has NEVER had a set of accounts signed off….that's EVER! The rebate Madam T 'won' is due to be renegotiated and the French are trying to stop it thereby making our contribution increase. OK then let's do that if the CAP is scrapped and as France is by far the greatest beneficiary to that crazy scheme I wonder if Sarko and Madam La Grande will be so willing to put everything on the table.

Beg to differ Merlin, you and others have made a difference to this one! In fact I will wager a daft penny there won't be a toucan crossing at that junction now! Still got the 'original' problem of course............ -

Actually monsta at a time of deep cuts in the public purse one of only two (I think) budgets which will get increased is Foreign Aid? (£5 billion?) Now I am all for helping others less fortunate and all that but I do believe charity begins at home, because if we don't get this right there won't be anything to take this Aid money from pretty soon!
