  10. Better boys.............
  11. Quick Google search... "Panackelty is a corruption of the word Pan Haggerty; Panackelty is a baked dish consisting of meat, usually corned beef, bacon or lamb chops, and root vegetables (mainly potatoes and onions) which is left to bake throughout the day in a pot on low heat. Originating in the Sunderland area of North East England, the dish was a favourite of working-class families and was traditionally eaten on Monday as the leftover meat and vegetables from the previous day's meal could be used."
  12. "We regret the lack of transparency and democratic accountability in the original solution proposed by the Commission, IMF and the ECB for Cyprus,” said European Parliament President Martin Schulz "Eurozone finance ministers also must take responsibility for this original solution for the Cyprus banking sector. The proposed solution was taken behind closed doors in the early hours of the morning without proper reflection on the consequences for ordinary people. Yet the 'blame-game' on whose proposal this was only serves to undermine confidence in the EU.”
  13. My mother's recipe was sliced tetties and onions, cooked in a large frying pan in a gravy. Just before they are done add in slices of corned beef. My take was to add peas and/or carrots but my son's favourite is a can of baked beans added. Don't add the corned beef too early or it disintegrates: Blitz that up and you get a nice soup.
  14. There you go Maggie........
  15. Do you honestly think the bankers can see so far as to be scheming about oil at this point? They are flailing around looking for a way to preserve their own empires and hides. No I don't I think its far bigger than just bankers!
  16. Splodgin.............forgot that one mickypotts. Great word.... Onomatopoeic?
  17. Fact of the matter is that Cyprus wasn't bust until the ECB made them so with their Greek debt holdings. This looks to be a geopolitical play involving recently found Cypriot gas reserves. They either back a plan involving leveraging Cypriot gas futures or come out of the Euro. With their parliamentary vote on a knife edge and the banks closed until whatever is decided on is in place the plan is now to leave deposits under 100K untaxed. This is how they do things in the great democracy that is the EU! BTW, anyone seen Mario?
  18. Aye, fine straight man.
  19. Listen to the Germans saying they didn't have anything to do with the Cyprus raid............. This is a litmus test! Beware Spain, Portugal..... If the EU implodes will Farage and UKIP disappear?
  20. What a great idea, impose a special tax on everyone who has a bank deposit and give the resulting cash back to the banks? That what is going on in Cyprus and has already resulted in a slide in the Euro and stocks. Greece is about to sell its bad loan stock, anyone hazard a guess what fraction of a euro to a euro of debt they will get for it? Might as well use it to heat the empty Tavernas. Who is going to jump the Euro ship first………. (I would still have an each way on Italy and Germany!)
  21. All VPs before being President?
  22. Good day Mr C, you are in Bedlington, now remember that, questions will be asked later, and the reason you are lost is that you turned off that 'wagon way' arterial route to another country that bisects our great county! You know the one that stifles our economic development and tourism, but then we are the back of beyond. What's that you say, oh yes there's nothing in it for you in terms of elections so you can afford to ignore this part of the world. Problem is the other lots do the exact same for the same, if inverted reasoning. Has there ever been a government which had done so many 'U-turns' as yours? I know it's a coalition but anyone would think you hadn't worked through the ramifications of what you were trying to bring in. Talk to me about your new 'Troubled Families' initiative. How come you were so cosy with Murdoch and your ministers seemed to bend to his will? Making a public enquiry almost teethless had nothing to do with your closeness to the criminals did it? Have you ever had a 'real' job? As a multimillionaire did you really need the public purse to do the roofing work on one of your houses? Propping up clearly incompetent if not criminal bankers at the expense of the least fortunate and OAP's would seem a difficult 'circle to square', care to try? Giving away the public sector to private sector friends instead of re-educating and rationalising it would seem to replace one incompetency with another? There are two basic ways to repay debt, one cut expenses and repay out of savings, the other grow and bring in more income and repay out of the increased income. Why are you only going for the least ambitious option, is it because you and your cabinet have never had to earn a living in their lives and so have no comprehension of how to really manage a real life budget? This I may come back to time allowing…………
  23. Happy Birthday Brian.
  24. Close to my heart Keith, close to my heart!
