Bedlington Has A New Residents Group
Malcolm Robinson replied to Keith Scantlebury's topic in Talk of the Town
Sym, Its not Keef1's group doing the vetting its the housing association doing it and I am not sure DBS will come into it? More probably some sort of 'criminal' or 'anti-social' background checks? ASBO's have to count for something, don't they?- 26 replies

GGG, I think they are the movement we are surreptitiously shown by sleight of hand artists, so we think we can see the trick. It's called misdirection! I didn't think much of the previous system but at least we had a band of elected councillors sitting on policing panels looking into all aspects of policing in their jurisdiction. Now all Vera can look into is budgets isn't it? It's not democracy being enlarged, its democracy being withdrawn! Quasi militia of all types need to be adequately overseen by the communities they serve or it's the communities who become the servants! "Quis custodiet ipsos custodesâ€, and all that!

GB was right on................you on something GGG? Disastrous chancellor and completely out of his depth PM. Looks like the stock markets are being held up with the likes of QE so gold has to be depressed or there wouldn't be ANY trade. If one of the EU countries with problems but gold reserves (Italy say) pulled out and backed a new currency with gold, leveraging against it, the Fed would have to try and depress the price even further or everyone would be back on the gold standard and how much physical stuff is there in Fort Knox? The brave new world of virtual banking would need something physical behind it and that's already scarred everyone witless once. The market is out of syc with fundamentals, the likes of gold should be rocketing? We are making nowt, buying Chinese rubbish with built-in obsolescence, actually listening to the politicos selling us on green power technology because that's all they can come up with as a growth area but its completely artificial, we are chasing our tails deluding ourselves we can get back to where we seemingly had some disposable income even if that was fleeced off us. Very hard to see the rocks for the quicksand.

Price of gold is crashing..............possible sequestration? Who will be the first to break ranks?

That point has been made Keef2. Also the geological fault line running across the site. Plus of course the wonderful access down there. Heed-the-balls! We can't further an effort to get a proper sports centre here because this pipe dream is on the cards. If it doesn't come off, and I doubt very much it will resolve any issues we have with not having proper facilities anyway, BVAL or Active Leisure or whatever its called by then will come in for some pretty damming criticism. I have said exactly that to their CEO! It has already potentially cost us a sizeable investment into Gallagher Park, which would have seen buildings erected there.

1961 Maggie. I have been trying to get a copy but it hasn't all been digitised yet. Have a gander at this one from 1960. Stick with it, its worth it! http://www.northeastfilmarchive.com/explore/nrfta/12162.html
