sorry i cant help you regarding the accumulater battery i was to young to understand what a battery was all i did was to carry it to elliotts garage to get charged when it was charged it was connected to the radio so that it worked

hears a little bit of history about elliotts garage from years gone by when i went to see my grand parents one of my duties was to carry an accumulater battery to get charged for the radio as there was no electric in the house as it only had gas for cooking and lights this was at murries yard at the top end you new you carried it when you finaly got back it seemed like a ton

as a young lad my friends and myself usedto play quiots we never had the proper ones so we used to use horse shoes when the pit ponies were re shood we got the worn ones

the bakers shop that you are on about i am sure that it was called taylors me and my friends used to stand against it in winter to keep warm.

i remember during the 19 40s after school was out me and my freind used to collect the peelings of potateos from teeny rices fish shop and take them to a man called surghles in eastgate for him to boil them for feed he used to get the butcher from guidepost called dennis to kill them he used to kill them by putting a sharp mettal spike on its head then hit it with a mettal hammer one day he faild to kill it with the first blow it went mental and started to run around the garden smashing every thing in its way .

i moved away from bedlington afew years ago when i go away on holiday i am often asked if i am a geordy to wich i reply i am a bedlington terrior and i always be one hence the name (bedeisathome .
