I got gold but I found the pin drop a bit 'IFY'. I knew the answer to a few of the question but I could not find the 'exact' place - IE Whitechapel for Ripper murders, Stormont for Irish Parliament. On the Ripper one I dropped the pin on the area of Whitechapel and it kept coming up You have chosen London!! I chose a category - History & Current Affairs - then I looked at Entertainment and hadn't heard of half the 'celebs'. Good fun though, probably try again later.

Tony, there was Pringle's Farm at the top of the woods on the Blyth side. Is that the one you mean?

Checked the reason up on Wikipedia, Micky, and they say if a jackdaw is widowed then the colony will reject it and drive it off. (It must be a mating threat to the other pairs that mate for life.) Fascinating story, pleased you had the guts to save it.

Sorry, I meant to get back to this one. I still don't like Northumberlandia as a tourist attraction. I just cannot see the point in the design. There is too much up and down and going around. They might as well have built a rollercoaster on the site. But the views are impressive and the insect life is flourishing.

Happy birthday, Foxy. Sorry it's late - new job has got me all over.

Was on top of The Lady yesterday - ooh no missus, titter ye not - incredible views and I was amazed at the extent of the opencast works behind it. But I still can't make sense out of it's layout - baffles me, that. But I was more impressed by the wildlife - damsel flies (tons) butterflies (even more) and a lovely cheese & tomato toastie at the cafe.

Here are the ones I can remember - Don't know how Neil Watson is on there - he was a station lad. Is that you or Billy bottom right?

Now that you mention him I remember little Terry Johnson. Didn't know he had died. I have put some photos of Whitley Memorial on site, Tony, have a look at them and see if you and Billy can identify anyone I've missed. (In fact I'll try to PM them to you)

If I'm not mistaken the same thing happened in the 80's (?) with glue-sniffing. No one would have dreamt of it until one of the daily papers (probably the Sun) ran an article on the new craze. Then tons of kids were doing it. PS, Where did you get the photo of my house from?

Foxy, was there a regular side-car event at the top of the Hair-pin bend in the 60's - 70's? (I'm sure this was touched on elsewhere on-site but can't remember where.)

Now if I had my conspiracy head on I would think the journalist might heve been deliberately hampered in the investigations in some way. But you're right about minimalistic journalism. I'm hoping they are going to follow it up with more details. I just thought it was interesting. Funny enough, in the 80s I thought the Independent was the only decent paper around.

It can't be the same ship, not by those dates, and it certainly can't be if it was lost in 1854. The photograph doesn't look as if it has a shallow draft, either.
