  1. Again this could be in the humour section. The entrance has to be seen to be believed. To think people were campaigning against the too bright signs of the Morrisons Garage, a few years ago! Maybe we are just jealous, in Bedlington what could we do with just a fraction of the money spent.
  2. That should be in the humor section. Very good, may use that quote at times!
  3. Morpeth that reminds me of the Easter tradition of 'Egg boolin and jaapin, at Morpeth's Easter Field. If you have not been to Morpeth for a while you will be shocked at the new Morrisons. Gone is the Old Red Bull pub and in it's place a palace to consumerism, complete with a totally over the top entrance.
  4. The old vicarage and the garden parties held by The Osgathorps are good to remember. Not quite like the version in The Leek Club. I remember everyone being friendly and kind. The house and garden must have their own history. Wonder when the house was built?
  5. Yesterday part of the building behind the site now has exposed foundations. Despite the back fill and the work they are doing the buildings around and the road all look like an accident waiting to happen. Not sure who drives up behind the Sun Inn but anyone doing so is very very brave.
  6. What about "Singing Hinnies" I might just go and make some.
  7. I thought it was just a joke, until I read about the murder!
  8. If you want to Mang the cant, you need to read Gordan Wilkinson's book Muckle Bari Morts and Gadgies. I got a copy from the Morpeth Chantry. In the book the author says the Morpeth Dialect is a mixture of Northumbrian, Miners Pitmatic and some Urdu words from the Romany Gypsies. The author who I think is from somewhere in Bedlington also says, Jugal is a dog Deek means look. Bari means good. Shan is bad. Radgie is crazy Deek, Bari and Radgie I remember using in Bedlington
  9. Worth thinking about in relation to today's problems
  10. Do not miss out read the other listing for Emily. Lots to think about.
  11. My last post needs to be read in connection to the other listing for dear Emily
  12. The guy at Barrington who murdered his wife and buried her in the garden is alleged to have sung, only a Rose in a Garden of Weeds. Gallows humour
  13. Wonder how many jockeys have died in the Grand National. How many others have been traumatised because of what they have witnessed both to the jockeys and the horses. Has anyone committed suicide years later because they could not get it out of their mind. Obviously paying tribute to the cause first. There are so many reasons to thank Emily. She has caused us to discuss these issues.
  14. Yesterday in Morpeth reminded me of Bedlington and the Miners Picnic. Parades, folk groups even a band playing in the park. No political arguments. If bored there was also an auction at Louis Johnsons
  15. Cambois has a history that goes back before the current name. I recall an argument that it was the port of call for ships, boats because if its position. Between the rivers. Bedlington and the townships are in a unique position. I just wish someone would provide the money and expertise to investigate.
  16. You learn something new every day. My childhood was lacking discovery time at Cambois. Aliens and Monsters! Oops sorry I meant to say, that the powers that be we're protecting us all from disaster! On the basis of the film threads set in Sheffield, I think, in the event of nuclear warfare the best option is death.

  18. Have any of you read The Season Ticket or seen the film Purely Belter.
  19. Good descriptive word but horrible thought. Just cough it up!
  20. We are in 1066 country and husband had a click in his jumper. Fixed by a Geordie Lady.
  21. Boulmer maybe. Huge underground complex.
  22. The Guardian today has an interesting article on the suffragettes. Page12 the Review Smashing the Glass. Manchester Art Gallery is celebrating the picture smashing with a series of events and exhibitions called Wonder Women Facts and figures. Lots of examples of unfairness. It is maybe difficult to understand why these ladies behaved so badly but they felt it was hugely important. Have things changed? Deeds not words
  23. Just used the term Workie ticket. I guess I work my ticket quite often. I also have enjoyed the Mordue Brewary ale. Radgie Gadgie was another ale they made, not sure if they still make these brews
