  4. Two people in the milk business in Bedlington.
  5. Just get out and vote! You do not need to read this thread.
  6. TSB about 1970, unfortunately I have lost the key. A time when bankers did not have another name! Maybe they even supported the toon.
  7. Could the water behind the Red Lion be the clue here! Maybe in 1851 this was the location for a Fountain Hall. Anyone got some very old maps
  8. Gold for full cream Silver for not a lot of cream And green maybe organic! Just guessing!
  9. The company makes the feast me lad And music weaves her spell Song and story, pipes and fiddle, Friends we all know well And every act is noted From masterpiece to least Hard times here are yesterday The company makes the feast. From Mike Tickell on Kathryn Tickell's Northumbrian Voices.
  10. We also found the Sun Inn Police grave.
  11. This was my inspiration to post the topic!
  12. My first babysitter is there, her dog died and at a young age I was the person to tell her. Her and I used to enjoy cream cakes from Barnes store. Later I would cycle to deliver them to the old folks homes in the Hartlands.
  13. Before the Health and Safety strike, I wonder who and what we can record. Today is a birthday in the family and it seemed like a good day to remember all those who have gone before. The cemetery still provides echoes past and present. So many names there of people on the site.
  14. Finally got a seat or four plus a table! Excellent meal and company. It is the company makes the feast after all.
  15. History Society tomorrow night is about The Stephensons, I believe. Coffin Chapel 7.30
  16. Arrogance ignorance and greed by Show of Hands is worth a listen. It could be relevant to so many topics.
  17. I always wondered where the odd piece of material came from for my patchwork cushions circa 1972!
  18. It is in the Journal too. Fame at last. Bring in the tourists. Mind today they will be slip sliding away because it is raining and the site is 'born slippy'
  19. Epsom Racecourse now has a plaque in memory of Emily. It has been erected at the place where she suffered her fatal injuries. It seems the ceremony was attended by a large number of Emily's relations who came from all over the World. The plaque says ' her lifelong dedication to women's suffrage and the contribution she made to the lives of British women, past and present, is remembered' Lauren Caisley unveiled the plaque.
  20. The Morpeth Herald today tells us that Northumberlandia is now going forward for a National Award against schemes in Weymouth, Birmingham, Snowdonia, and Singapore! The winner is to be announced in July. Lets hope our very own lady wins. The largest human landform in the World.
  21. Martin Stephenson has a very relevant track called 'left us to burn' about Maggie Thatcher. I wonder if anyone can flag it up. I have failed sorry. He is a Mackem apologies to some of you.
  22. Born 1946 I am older than you Orloff! I remember sharing the cost of records with my dad and the boyfriend. I think the cost was 6/3 pence. May have been 3/9 pence! So long ago. I feel sorry for the Spotify Generation, buying the odd record or two or more was brilliant. Going to a concert was almost as cheap or expensive as the records. I remember hearing 'With the Beatles' for the first time. Friends got together. No downloads.
  23. I am older than most of you but I can remember the odd trendy place to visit 60s onward. Ok I am sick of politics! Right how about the Club A Gogo. Marcus Price obviously not for me. Friends who lived near Brian Ferry or were at the party Lindisfarne sing about! Then there are bus journeys to the smoke and the Kensington High Street Market! The start of the Virgin Brand! Habitat at Bromley. Scary journeys through London to home via Hyde Park Corner etc. Becoming a flag waving Geordie. Trendy or not!
