  1. Are you sober yet? There is a slight possibility England might beat Croatia and then a more likely result will be getting hammered in the final - Belgium or France. England's journey in the world cup :- England ranked 12th by FIFA - Tunisia ranked 21st. - Panamar ranked 55th - Belgium, 1st team ranked 3rd - there 2nd team beat our mixed 1st & 2nd team. Columbia ranked 16th - penalties Sweden ranked 24th. Next opponents - Croatia ranked 20th (who went to penalties to beat Russia ranked 70th). If we get through the semi final then Belgium, ranked 3rd, or France ranked 7th. I know there are always games that go the underdogs way but I think England, if they stick with the same starting 11 as they did last match, will now be defending more than anything else. Unless they substitute Jordan Henderson (defensive midfield), Dele Alli (attacking [supposedly] midfield) & Raheem Stirling (attacking midfield) with a defensive midfielder that pick out a forward with a pass, and two attacking midfielders that an actually get passed the opposition, with the ball!
  2. Comment on Facebook Bedlington remembered group by Alan Brady :- Alan Brady Nedderton village school had two years in each class. This is my class but for some reason I'm not in the photo but wor Dave is and he is 1 and a 1/2 years younger than me. Miss Short was the teacher. She also taught both my Mam and Dad.

  9. I assume @Andy Millne will 'refresh' the Bedlington Timeline held on this site but is it @johndawsonjune1955 that actually does the updates?
  10. Double or quits? I'm feeling generous! Round that up to 5p.

  13. Well I'm with you ♀️ and I don't like the ball, or the hair cuts, either. I think the Swiss keeper's 40 denier tights are way to evocative. I hope it doesn't go to penalties
  14. I have no idea - Ave Wgt - to me would be Average Weight but that doesn't fit. Link to the site where I got the table from is https://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/ranking-table/men/index.html
  15. The above, found whilst 'Silver Surfing' by Billy Embleton, has been posted on the Bedlington remembered Facebook group. We don't have any info other that what is printed on the document. Just to ensure that if anyone uses the 'Search' facility looking for info that this document may hold here are some phrases from the document ; Mary Ann Short - Golden Wedding 1851 - 1901 & .... we cannot refrain from mentioning your gallan effort in trying to rescue two hundred and four brothers entombed in the Hartley pit and it ministers to our pride to feel that "John Short" is written on the scroll of heros.......................... --------------------------------- I did have a Google of the Hartley pit disaster but I can't find any reference, from that Google, of John and Mary Short.
  16. @Bella :- I'm not saying you will find the answer to your question but have you input the name "Hemming" into the search box, top right hand corner, to see the topis the name Hemming is linked with? I see a similar question has been asked on the Facebook group - Bedlington remembered by a new member, Diane, from Canada. Is there a link between Diane & Bella?

  18. I was going to say: - put your cash up front, but you probably don't have any. Sweden is the most cashless society on the planet - barely 1% of the value of all payments made using coins or notes last year. Maddy Savage - British freelance journalist & presenter in Sweden says :- "It's been mainly positive reactions. We love to use our cards here in Stockholm." ------------------------------------ Across the country, cash is now used in less than 20% of transactions in stores - half the number five years ago, according to the Riksbank, Sweden's central bank. Coins and banknotes have been banned on buses for several years after unions raised concerns over drivers' safety. Even tourist attractions have started to gamble on taking plastic-only payments, including Stockholm's Pop House Hotel and The Abba Museum. Could the World Cup final be v Get your Chip & Pin on it!
