  1. Don't be fooled, LED tv's are LCD tvs.

The correct difference between the two is the backlighting. Both have LCD displays.

What you have is 2 different LCD tv's to choose from in essence,

    1. A Florescent lit LCD tv
    2. A LED lit LCD tv

At the same time, LED technology is far out preforming florescent technology, especially in the black areas of the picture, so your friends are right, go for the LCD.

Some good reading, if your interested in the argument:

Swaying back on-topic slightly, the Guardian agree's with my opinion somewhat:

3D television's early adopters: To buy or not to buy?

The principal message is: don't hurry to buy one unless you delight in getting the first version of things

  2. My guess, just like DVD, flat screens, LCD, Plasma Recordable DVD's and every other piece of new technology, it'll take a while before its really worth it.

HD has been around for a while now, but its only just now that the standard is being adopted...

Personally, i'm gonna go with HD for now, and wait and see what happens with 3D.

If you've had HD for a while now, and like new toys, then its worth trying out for you.

  3. RE: Raisbeck busses, i remember there being 2 orange ones, then they bought a brans spanking white one (As pictured) to take over the general timetable, and the orange ones being used for the school runs up to Bedlington station and back at the relevant times.

  4. I've said it before and i'll say it again. If there is not a full choice, then theres no choice at all.

Its like a choice of Stella, Carling, Fosters or Carlsberg, when all you want is a decent pint of Guinness.

Bring in a "None of the above" vote on the ballot paper, see what comes of it...

...It wont help elect anyone, but it'll send a clear message to the commons that were not happy with the current choice, and we as a people demand better!

  5. Word is it's up for sale, don't know why though  Be a great place to build some flats  So all this seems a little bit irrelevant

Good to see your still reading the topic before posting to it Merlin

As for why, i have heard that Louise and her brother are on the papers, but the plan was for Louise and her Husband to actually do the day to day running of it.

Now, sadly, Louise's husband has passed away, and running a pub alone with 4 (?) children running round her feet is not quite working out.

Its a nice little pub, but the lack of a good ammount of parking means it'll always just be, just a nice little pub.

Its a shame, because 99% of the current regulars seem really canny people!

  6. The draw is metered by the number of tickets sold on the book. Each book contains 1000 tickets, so providing an income of £1000 per book.

A simple equasion will reveal that the number of tickets sold, cross referenced with the £30 paid out each week regardless will reveal a quite low profit margin. £40 worth of tickets sold only reveals a £10 profit, and that goes to the local boys football team. (i'd say which but i'm not certain which it is!)

The £70 is simply a total of 7 weeks without successfull box opening, at £10 a week.

With an average of 40 tickets sold per week, and 16 keys to choose from at the begining, its not that profitable, with approx 25% of ticket sales going to the benificiary, and the rest paid out to winners.

Of course, should more than £40 worth of tickets be sold, the only thing that benifits is the Footballers.

What would a call to trading standards do?

And the beer sales? Dont make me laugh!

  7. that would be a bit of a waste of time if you are to actually turn up to tick a box for "none of the above" should you not just stay at home and give the same result?

Because then there would be a result for how many people want to vote, but just dont like the choices. Then the "no vote" figure would actually represent the section of people who just dont vote, rather than a mix of the two.

how would it brew a storm? some weedy party like the greens would get in and have us all living in holes under the ground wearing potato sacks!

I personally think this option is not there, because it would show just how people are thinking.

Were not happy with the choices put forward, and should have a way to show this.

Its like having the choice between dying by electricution. the needle, hanging, or stay at home and starve.

Not much of a choice at all really!
