  1. Ms Barnes might have something to say about Tesco owning 'their' building. As for the 4-5 mile thing :D You might ask Asda that same question? Ashington, Blyth and Blyth Asda are planning to expand!

    Ashington Blyth AND Blyth??? :D

The work on Blyth store starts end of march/early april. as for ashington, i've never heard any rumours...

  2. If you actually go to the Ridge Farms review, and not just her personal review, the map rights itsself (glitch in the software??) and 3 other "good" reviews are found, however, i agree with the basic outline.

The meat in the place is second to none. It melts in the mouth and is visually pleasing. Thats where the compliments stop for me.

We had our christmas do there, and to be fair, it seemed like the staff wanted us out as quickly as possible. I was actually still eating my starter when the waitress came and stood till i was finnished, then with a grunt, i was pointed towards the plates for the main course.

Most of the vegtables would have been lucky to have been scalded in the water, they were that hard, and the rest looked and tasted like they were from yesterday. The yorkshire puddings "seemed" to be lacking an ingredient which made them taste like paper. I cannot fault the turky, beef or gravey tho.

i had the sponge pudding for afters, and to say "microwave" would be exact. Whilst this isnt always a bad thing (i've had some nice microwave puddings) i think someone needs to teach the cook the ways of the decimal point. 1.5 minutes on the packet translated to 15 mins to the cook it would seem!

no sooner had the spoon hit the plate and the cleanup began, with scowels on the faces of the staff, and the odd elbow as they rushed. The hint was taken and we retired to the bar, where the lass on call was much more plesant!

3 minutes later the staff, obviously pained at having to come in to work, came through, said "Thank %$£$ thats over with, i'm $%£$£ng off before anyone else gets here" or words to that effect, glanced another scowel in our direction, and stormed out the door.

I used to like, and recommend this place for food, but now wont be going back untill i start hearing good things again.

As for competition, bar meal wise, i believe the swan is the closest competitor, am i wrong?

  3. THE whopper, not A whopper!

Shows where your mind is at eh? eh? EH??! ;)

Macdonnalds... well, i'd have a milkshake every now and again,(another double entandré??) and a big tasty when they are on,(Yes, i know whats in the "special sauce"! ) but thats about it.

The only reason i venture in there for any other reason is the kids like the play area at crammy.

I think a premium fast food place such as Burger King, McDonnalds, Subway etc would actually do the town some good, and make it a little more credible for other businesses to arrive...

I welcome any well known businesses here!

  4. I heard something about this, something to do with modifications....

...Basically, if your Xbox has been modified in any way other than by an approved person, it can't be used on live.

Happened to a few of my friends also, who have "chipped" boxes to play the copies.

  5. They were put there after an accident after dark one night involving 2 "young persons" cars that had "skidded on the ice" "by accident". (Read: young males in cars handbrake turning and lost control)

apparently a young lady was hurt to the point of a broken bone, but i forget the details.

I've never had any problems getting in and out of there since it was done, although i agree they should be a different colour, seeing as how they were put there because of an accident in the "snow!"

I believe the same was done to block off the Humford Woods car park too?

  6. We had a simmiler conversation not long ago about this where views were very different... Should be an interesting thread!

I still hold the same ground. If you do the crime, you do the FULL time, regardless of your personal issues/preferences/situation.

After all, thats the whole point of the punnishment no?

Whats next? "England is in the world cup final, can i have the weekend out to watch them play?"

  7. We had a strong class there on a wednesday once over, an hour for under 13's then an hour and a half for 13-adult, then due to a change of instructor, the numbers fell.

the origional instructor came back to a class of 6, barely enough to pay for the hall for an hour, never mind the late class.

As a class builder, he asked if he could have the room for half price for 6 weeks for the hour and a half (since we'd been there for over 2 years that i knew of!) so we could cut the price, have "bring a friend for free", still be able to include the youths for the first half hour etc to build it back up again.

"sorry, company policy, no can do. its full price or leave."

We left 3 weeks later for a new venue, and built the class back up within weeks. The room at the CC was not used on a wednesday night again, as far as i'm aware, and i believe they now close that day?? (i may be wrong about opening times)

its attitudes like this that stop organisations using the place. No help at all!
