  1. For Mozilla users:

    http://noscript.net/

The NoScript Firefox extension provides extra protection for Firefox, Flock, Seamonkey and other mozilla-based browsers: this free, open source add-on allows JavaScript, Java and Flash and other plugins to be executed only by trusted web sites of your choice (e.g. your online bank), and provides the most powerful Anti-XSS protection available in a browser.

    # Faster and more compatible anti-XSS protection.

    # Better error reporting during the execution of location bar scriptlets.

    # Improved protection against Aviv Raff's scriptless tabnagging variant, by blocking refreshes triggered on unfocused untrusted tabs. See the changelog for more details.

    # Improved compatibility with some GreaseMonkey scripts and some web applications.

    # New Surrogate Script type: when a "sources" preference for a surrogate starts with "!", it is treated as a page-level surrogate which runs on pages where scripts are disabled as soon as the DOM is completed (useful as a GreaseMonkey-like enhancer of non-whitelisted pages).

  2. greece crap ecomony crap at football! 2-0 to south korea!

Maybe if they can cheat their way to the semi's like they did in the Euro's the economy could benefit from people spending some of their worthless cash...

Fourgee may as well get some use out of his overpriced, overzealous, fan-boy piece of rubbish!!

Means he can work whilst working. Probably still won't be able to get in touch with him though ;)

Was only looking for something to setup some sort of LAN with the laptop for sharing over Wi-fi in the house. The BB browser doesn't appear to suppor the '\' function....

  4. ...and if the N900 is too complex for you:

You don't have to send it back to the factory and pay megabucks to change the battery; the maps are free; they aren't trying to tell you that you can't view Flash websites because THEY have issues with Adobe, and the audio doesn't have a ball and chain attached to it.

ThreeGee. Do you have shares with Nokia? :P

  5. Watch out for this new online phishing scam which uses 'tab napping' to attack your computer - and your finances...

As internet users we're all vulnerable to online scams. Unluckily for us, as soon as we become pretty good as spotting one type of attack, another more sophisticated version comes along in its place. In fact, technology company Mozilla - which developed the Firefox web browser - has recently warned against a possible threat from a new scam known as 'tap napping' which takes phishing one step further.

 What will they think of next. Using the internet is gonna have people paranoid about doing anything secure soon.

  6. I laugh at the government instantly finding a scapegoat, something must be done.

Is it not a rational explanation that, just possibly, one of the 58,789,194 people that live in the UK over 13 years could just lose it and go a little bit mental?

After all Dunblane was the last event close to this.

They have to govern something or blame someone!!

There is no possible way that legislating something into an unworkable state can be good for anything. If they pulled there heads out of their arses and thought the initial legislation through, discounting the fact that you can't tell if someone is going to have a mental stint so many years down the line, then there is no need to change anything.

I personally wouldn't say there was a huge problem with gun crime, in the lakes especially.

The only difference betweek the shootings in the lakes and a shooting in the south londong boroughs is the media coverage. People don't care if gangs are wiping each other out but when Joe Bloggs gets it something has to be done.

  7. A number of people have been killed and others injured after a gunman opened fire in several areas of west Cumbria.

    Shooting suspect found dead

Police apprehending a man suspected of shooting a number of people across West Cumbria this morning have located a body believed to be that of Derrick Bird in a wooded area near Boot.

Police have seized a gun from the scene and are now working to formally confirm the identity of the deceased and the number of people injured or dead.

A police helpline number 0800 0960095 has been set up for concerned relatives of those involved in this incident.

Our focus is now on the movements of Mr Bird this morning - we believe there are a number of fatalities and injuries. Our thoughts are with the families in these tragic times. We are asking for any witnesses to come forward and help us with our investigation into the events of this morning.

Police are asking those who were sheltering to now go about their normal day to day activities and would like to thank them for their patience in incredibly difficult circumstances. Please be aware there are a number of crime scenes across the county and we would ask for people's patince whilst we conduct our investigations.

  8. Sounds like Brooker is just looking for something to write about if you ask me....

Eventually it was up and running. And yes, if you've used an iPhone, it's a bit of an anticlimax, although toying with it is undeniably pleasant. The display is supernaturally crisp; the seamless, intuitive interface becomes second nature almost immediately. Once you've got used to the weight, it's perfect for browsing websites while lounging on the sofa. I don't mean that dismissively: it's quite an achievement – especially since "browsing websites while lounging on the sofa" is what the vast majority of laptops are currently used for.

What else would the majority of people use a laptop for? Personally without too much investigation into the matter it looks like that would be the primary target audience. Can't see them being functional for photo/video editing as a mouse has to come into play anyway.

Most people, as I have already said, are on neither side of a Swiftian civil war between LittleEndian Applistas and BigEndian Anti-Applistas. There are plenty of people who are more measured and reasonable in their scepticism about Apple, it is not my mission to characterise everyone on each side as a fundamentalist. But you know there really is fury out there. Absolute fury. Otherwise funny and sane people like Charlie Brooker have taken up anti-Apple stances as a matter of style. 'People who like Apple are pretentious and style conscious, so I will never ever have one,' the argument goes, if I can call it an argument, and obviously I can't, because it isn't an argument it's just a dumb and slightly mad assertion.

Well known that its a stance rather than an opinion that brooker has taken.

  9. I'd definitely go to an indoor rock climbing centre, is there one nearby to 'have a go'?

I know there is a paintballing place nearby, but competition has to be a good thing!

Cramlington is the closest one but you have to have done it before really as the instruction isn't up to much. There is Newburn leisure centre which has a 40ft wall and you can learn the ropes so that you can belay yourself and the church in Byker has just been converted into a climbing wall too....

  10. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-evening-chronicle/2010/05/12/ashington-postman-filled-flat-with-stashed-mail-72703-26429860/

He lives (used to) round the corner from me the thieving muppet!!!

Good job all I get is bills through the post, anything else is courier..

Stupid thing is I ordered some Phono cables t'other week and only one arrived...look at the photo of him on the chronicle site!!!! Think he already been caught then though..

  11. Funny that you mention this. was heading up to cresswell on Friday with the dergs and to the right of the sun was a really bright spectrum coloured light really intense at one end and and really dark at the other.

It wasn't a rainbow and looked really strange!!!

Got pics of it on the cordless but got no way of transferring them to the computer at the minute!!

  12. Personally I think it is a bit of a gimmick. Get one if you and your family/mates all want to look like madness watching a film over the weekend. But then again I don't watch enough TV to justify it anyway. Buy an LCD and spend what you saved on a decent surround sound speaker system.

  13. Believe in the following

    'IMMIGRANTS, NOT BRITISH, MUST ADAPT.

Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on British ground , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of British . 'Our culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom' 'We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian etc, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!' 'Most British believe in God. This is not Christian, right wing, political bull, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.' 'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. What we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peace with us.' 'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, and Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.' 'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. If you came to this country to save your head being lobbed off for some misdemeanor then why do you want the same laws in this country?

Stupid thing is that my girlfriend works as a home carer and if she were to wear a cross around her neck (which she wouldn't) she would be advised by management to take it off in case of causing offence to anyone. She wears an 'OM' pendant around her neck and not a thing is said.

I am not a religious person and I don't believe in god but if people want to express their beliefs and religion in whatever shape or form then they should be entitled to do so. I am not a christian but I think it is scandolous that nurses etc are made to remove crosses so they don't offend someone. They have every right to wear Burka's (which isn't even part of the religion).

Same as all of the schools in Northumberland being changed into CofE schools. We did not send the bairn to a religious school as we are not religious yet the church have taken it upon themselves to move into (what I would class) as an under priviledged area changing everything to be emblazoned with crosses and preaching about God. Oh but they offered a free school uniform first term so everyone would overlook the fact that they were brainwashing everyone!!

The bairn come home and told me that God made rainbows as a sign that there would be no more flooding, to which I told him that next time a teacher tells him that he has to reply with "Rainbows are a result of the refraction of light through water droplets in the air". Had a massive long discussion with the bairn as he was getting upset that Jesus died for us. We told him that what the school is teaching him are just stories and might not be true.

I personally think that religion has a lot to answer for and its all a load of rubbish. Believe what you like im turning buddhist and moving into the hills!!!

  14. None from the list actually annoy me too much, what really annoys me though is people who drive at 40mph in a 30mph and then drive at 40mph in a 60 zone.

If you are going to break the speed limit at least do it consistently.

Im quite a patient driver and other people driving like tools doesn't bother me too much....well when I am in the car. However when I get into the van :-p thats another story ha

  15. I was just having a conversation with the girly about this subject last night whilst out walking the dogs. We live in Ashington near Hirst Park and the amount of broken glass lying around the floors really pees me off to say the least.

The majority of young peoples attitudes today is a sheer lack of respect for other people, authority and there own family. I would not have dreamed of behaving the way some kids do these days.

Was in hirst park t'other day with the dogs and the bairn and there was a lass approximately 9 years of age f'ing and blinding at one of her mates. I couldn't resist myself and told her to stop swearing, there was no need for it and that she should have more respect for other users of the park.

Due to the location we don't dare to let the barin out and play so he is confined to the yard or the house which is a nightmare for someone with so much energy and with the summer coming up.

When I was younger, every second of light that we had during the day, after school and in the summer holidays we spent playing football on the field or eating cones of chips (which if you remember correctly were 45p, the collection of vinegar in the bottom of the polystyrene cone was always drinkable too :D).

Now the younger ones just want to drink !*!@# cheap wine, play !*!@# music on their phones and terrorise people for no other reason that sheer arrogance.

I don't blame the kids either, they have been brought up with a lack of respect for other people and in my local community its generally the gene pool that they are coming from which is causing them to behave the way they do. I was outside the shop last night and heard a mother telling her 6ish year old kid that she would "shove pizza in her face if she didn't shut up".

I mean come on, use or it least attempt to kick start some brain cells and do something for the community instead of popping out more sprogs.
