  1. I just read that FIFA told the Brazilians to build a venue to stage the World cup 2014 draw. This cost the Brazilian tax payers £18,000,000 for the 100 minute event. £180,000 per minute. £3,000 per second. Who can justify extravegance on that scale given the state of the world as it is at the moment.

I would have bunged them in the conference suite at the Premier Inn or the equivalent over there.

Yes Mr FIFA, I will do as you say so that we can has some football
  2. I would rather we had 'won' the football bids..............

Yes as we have the capacity stadiums and it wouldn't cost anything to host the football. But obviously Qatar makes more sense.

I have no interest in the Olympics. Host them all in Greece and feed the losers to lions, it's only tradition and it would save us splashing cash we don't have.

  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9550930.stm

The BBC and Sky Sports will broadcast Formula 1 in the UK between 2012 and 2018 under a new rights deal.

The BBC has been the exclusive broadcaster of F1 in the UK since 2009 but its contract with Formula One Management was due to expire after the 2013 season.

Sky Sports will show every race, qualifying session and practice live.

BBC Sport will broadcast half the races live, as well as the qualifying and practice sessions from those races.

Both companies will broadcast in high definition.

Races screened by the BBC will be live on the BBC Sport website for UK users.

The BBC will have highlights on TV, online and mobile for any race it is not showing live, and all races will be broadcast on BBC Radio 5 live.

Stupid deal, what is the point of only having half the races, might as well not have any because if you are in to F1 you will have to pay for SKY for their exclusive races so you might as well watch them all on their.

I for one, won't be paying for Sky Sports or Sky for that matter to watch the F1 so my Saturdays and Sundays are going to be alot more productive.

  5. BT reserves, and makes use of, the right to remotely detect all devices connected to LANs owned by its broadband customers – for their own good, of course.

BT Broadband customers can expect to have their network checked any time the operator feels it needs to take a peek to help it provide the service, or when the safety of the customer is in doubt – the latter being the motivation behind the only instance where we know the capability has been used.

  6. We go to Herons Freezer shop in Ashtoon for biscwits and general rubbish for the bairns cupboard but use Laidlers in Delaval for our fruit and veg. Loads of the stuff is locally sourced and cheap as chips.

Currently got cucumbers, courgettes, tomatoes, strawberries and got some potatoes and onions on the way in the back garden too. Even if it saves us a little bit a week by using the home stuff it's better than giving it to Wal Mart.
