  1. If the word block appears under the name as per:

    iSKV0I1.png

This means that the person is not currently blocked and by clicking this you are blocking the person from sending you messages.

If someone is already blocked then it will say 'Unblock' beneath their name.

I can't see why any of the regular members would want to block anyone else here, we are all adults and if something can't be settled via conversation then there is something desperately wrong.

  2. I wonder if it is 'Say no to women on the site'

Such a strange thing to insinuate.

To block a person, whilst in 'Personal Messenger' you will click the Block option underneath their name in the top left hand corner:

Alternatively you can select 'Manage Ignore Prefs' from your profile menu at the top right

This takes you to the 'Ignore Preferences' within your user profile and allows you to select who you ignore and you can limit this to certain sections of the site or completely.

  3. Wasn't thinking about little SBCs in that context. There are dozens of little Android driven dedicated MCs now. OK they are mostly priced a bit more than $35 but they are vastly more versatile than Chromecast. With Chromecast you need an Android or Chrome device anyway to control it. So it's not a standalone device,

To be fair with the option of having a Chrome browser extension that allows you to do the streaming it would be that the majority of users have a Chrome device with the capability of streaming the content to the Chromecast

and Google are a little naughty in showing it without the very necessary USB power lead. They also anticipate you will need to fiddle to get a decent WiFi signal as it's shipped with a short HDMI extender. i.e. nothing is THAT simple!

I think it's another fail, to rank with Apple fails in the sector, but we'll see. They might rescue the project by near giving them away, but to the thinking person it's no substitute for a proper MC, and just another way into your wallet or purse.

I suppose with the USB power lead it could be powered from the TV power lead as most newer TV's come with the functionality of a USB port as well as HDMI.

I understand that not everyone has the USB port but all new smart phones seem to be coming with "travel adapters" (and extremely shorter cables) so the 3 pin plugs will be less of a rarity in the next year or so.

I would surely prefer to pay the $35 (which will probably translate to £35 which alot of companies seem to be doing with electronics now) for a Chromecast than the premiums they are putting on SmartTV functionality on top of same models without it.

I already have most of the functionality with the Xbox however with the ability to pair the Xbox YT app with my phone and search for videos using my phone to be played on the TV, iPlayer, Xbox Smartglass as a remote controller and Netflix, Sky Player, 4OD, & LoveFilm should you want 2 year old films.

  4. Maggie the facility is there in case you receive messages you do not want from members on the site.

I would guess that its not really required on here but comes as part of the forum software as standard. Its not something most people would utilise but is there to be used if people should feel the need for it.

What were your concerns about it?

  5. But not everyone likes to play with linux, even if the distro's come with everything out of the box.

I'm sure most people will like to just have something to plug in which is recognised as a media device over the WiFi with no effort to setup at all over having to load an OS on to a memory card.

Hell, it would probably take longer for most people to find where to stick the memory card to load the OS than it would for you to get a HTPC up and running.

  6. On this not particularly, if you receive an email from a trusted source which appears to be SPAM or not legitimate then advise them to change their email password and select a secure password rather than the generic "Password123" "123456789"

It's amazing the amount of people that have poor quality passwords which they will more than likely use for every account they possess.

Generally the reason you are receiving SPAM emails from trusted sources is that their password has been compromised.

Try the below for secure passwords:

  7. All in all I would say that the 'Big Event 2' was a massive success. There were crowds of people with their deck chairs all sitting around with the kids enjoying the rides and the bandstand.

The stalls were all excellent and everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.

There must have been a lot of effort by everyone involved and it showed by the numbers of people that were there. The weather definitely helped and there are lots of red faces wandering around the streets of Bedlington.

Same again next year and going off the success of this years event there should be more stalls and more local businesses involved in the day.

Most of all I think the day showed that if enough people work together to achieve one goal instead of all fighting against each other, something extraordinary can be done.

    Well done all.

  8. I have been through and amended the first post made by John with the updates thereafter.

If you keep posting in here John with updates I can keep going through and adding them to the first post so that the entire timeline appears in one post but the thread consists of discussion and snippets of relevant dates.

Will make for a good reference post that people can revert to for dates/information.

  9. Did anyone post

    6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1 6-1

    yet?

Looks like this could be going down to the wire as well after Wigan getting a result today and us failing to beat the Hammers.

You need to hope that Danny 'the traitor' Graham can perform with Sessegnon's ban being upheld. Stoke will be a tough game for the mackems on Monday night!
