  1. Yes I can understand people not wanting to say anything but if the evidence is that strong and it does appear to be so, why not inform the BBC they at least might investigate

good idea! i can see chris packham getting attacked know !

  2. Now, obviously nothing can be done with the area marked with the red arrow, as this is the reservoir (so i am lead to believe).

are you sure it could be an underground bunker or a store where they keep the golf course lynx!!!!

Some good points there but to be honest I can't see them working, sorry.

A more radical plan would be to ban all parents cars from school premises and make the whole area around these schools Residents parking only. There are adequate car parks up from Netto which entails a short walk to all these schools!

walk WALK what you mean WALK? you expect the hakky lazy parents to WALK! when they can just park and block up the whole street! WALK now come on!

  3. Well well well after all the hype and the great anticipation to the Grand opening of the Red Lion, Wetherspoons show how much it knows or cares about Bedlington. Who? Have they invited to open it, is it our home grown personality 'Tommy The Egg Man' No! Is it a sporting great in the vane of Alan Shearer? No! Is it the 'Big Cat' from the golf course? No! Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttts the one, the only The Great Mr Ian Lavery (MP) :wtf2:

MP in this case stands for MUPPET. Wetherspoons have committed a "Pomme de terre" (Del boy classic) here this bloke doesn't even know where Bedlington is! It's not even open yet and they've already lost 10 potential customers. Well done to your advertising and PR exec's Wetherspoons, fantastic, bye

whats alan shearer got to do with bedlington?

That's incredible. Talk about not doing your market research. I have an idea - let's start a campaign: The Golf Course Lynx to Open The Red Lion!

think it will be hard to get a hold off !

we could always get one of the perry's! (wheel clamper!)

  4. :wtf: spend cuts every where as usuall hitting the poorest first! so why the !*!@# is george !*!@# nose raising foriegn aid by 37%? of course spending cuts probably wont hurt him as he's got a secure job with pretty good wages so why the !*!@# should he care!
  5. At this time, what with the political climate and spending cuts just being announced, what do you think of Wayne 'Shrek' Rooney reportedly being offered £250,000 per WEEK to !*!@# about once or twice on a football pitch. Is it any wonder that supporters are disillusioned with football clubs! These so called wages for so called super-stars :wtf: are obscene. Is it time to bring back a wage limit to bring football back into context? Your thoughts please.

Whoever is to blame for censoring P.o,N.c.E needs a good kick up the !*!@# !*!@# :dribble: :dribble:

at least he'll not be able to claim child benefit! :dribble:

  6. Why should they?

The Tavern offers something wetherspoons does not: Entertainment.

Worth a little extra on a pint to watch a live band or have a game of pool in my opinion.

They should, however, either get a new pool table and maintain it, or drop the price of it. 50p a game is a little steep in my opinion, whereas the Sports Club in Blyth has 2 great tables, and they are only 20p a pop.

    because they'll lose trade!

and what happens if the lion gets a pool table?

and personally i find the bands at the tavern suck! might be nice to have a pub were you dont get deafened by crap bands that can't sing! or listening to chava music with its non stop three cord tune!

rather watch back to back repeats of.......

  7. Monsta you seem to be a bit stuck with this extinct 2500 yrs business, according to reports there seem to be thousands still living in the wild. So this means...now let me think.....ahhh....yes they are not extinct

not in europe but you will find they are extinct in the uk! (apart for 1 or 2 escapees!)

  8. There is one point to come out of this discussion. We are all agreed that something out of the ordinary WAS seen on Bedlington Golf Course!

thats why i offered a more sensible idea that it might be a wild cat wether true scottish or a hybrid from behind the post office who knows! but then it turns into your more likely to see a lynx even though they've been extinct for the last 2500 years!!!!! but your more likely to see one!!!!

your more likely to see dumbo break dancing on the 18th!

on a more likely note what looked like a big cat could have been a deer if only seen for an instant before it bounds away! and alot more common than the lynx!

  9. Common? Who said they were common? Me? I don't think I did, Monsta, and I didn't even imply it. I said - and I don't think you need reminding really - that it's not disputed that Lynx are living in the wild in the UK; I didn't say they were commonplace at all.

do these words not ring a bell "You're probably more likely to see a lynx!" implying there is a larger population of lynx in the uk than scottish wild cats!

number of scottish wild cats 400+

    number of lynx a possible 2 - 3 escapees!

  10. Monsta, I think you will find that wild animals in Africa are more common than on the golf course as ,you see, they live there it is their natural habitat, or did that basic fact elude your rather tunnel vision  You will find that we are on about animals that have been imported or bred in captivity, that have either escaped or have been released into our countryside. Sunk in yet

    And by the way

    91%20Norwich%20Lynx%20pic%20BBCS%20copy.jpg

Summer 1991 - Northern Lynx (Felis Lynx) shot near Beccles, Suffolk, after it killed about 15 sheep over a two-week period. After spending a short time in the farmers freezer it was sold on to a local game dealer - who then had it stuffed and sold it to a local collector - who apparently now has it on display in his house. The BBCS learnt about this previous unreported story last year and have unearthed the only pictures of it to exist.

A lynx was shot dead by R.U.C. marksman near the village of Fintona on the 18th of February 1996. The shooting followed days of reports of a 'young lion' in the area. The lynx, which was wearing a collar, was believed to have escaped from a private collection.

The body was suupposedly stuffed and placed in the R.U.C. museum.

A lynx was captured in London after a witness report of a leopard sat on a garden wall. The lynx was captured after being sedated by a vet with a dart and blow pipe. She was taken to London zoo and treated for a paw injury, she was given the name Lara there. (2001)

    those stories sound a bit --- snowfish.jpg !!!!

'People in Africa', and elsewhere, also discover plenty of species they didn't know existed, every year. Mammals, birds, reptiles - the whole lot - are being discovered all the time. If we can miss them, we can miss animals that we don't expect to be in our midst, too. As merlin confirms with those pictures, it's not in doubt that there are Lynx alive in the UK.

Merlin - you should read Fortean Times, if you love this sort of stuff you'd love that! I have plenty of back issues should you want them!

the words of wisdom from the one who thinks lynx are common in england!

  11. All very good points, but as merlin goes on to say Lynx, and other big cats, have a colossal territory and are naturally elusive creatures. Furthermore, cats aren't mythical like bigfoot - they exist. As I said earlier, there is no doubt that Lynx - and other cats - were released into the wild some years ago. Whether they continued to survive - and, crucially, breed - is another thing entirely.

still people in africa (a much larger conenant than little old england) can track big cats! so that theory dont work! so did that bloke on that wild life program that was on a few weeks ago, tigers up in the himalayas thats alot harser eviroment than bedlington golf club!

  12. The myth that big cats couldn't survive in this country was debunked a long time ago. There's plenty to eat and cats are, by their nature, elusive. As for the authorities, I think the best option is to leave well alone - a cat is unlikely to attack a human and I know of no certain reports of big cats attacking; most likely it will scarper long before you get close enough to it. The whole thing reminds me of the famous colony of wallabies that lived wild in the pennines in Derbyshire, close to where I was brought up. You could walk into the hills - not far from a small town - and watch them hopping around like they were native. I'm told the last one died recently as they were not breeding.

thing is as the expert on autumn watch pointed out, if big cats were in the uk were are the tell tale signs such as paw marks and recent kills to prove there actually there? bit like proving the big foot is real, there loads of sightings but no actual proof!

  13. It would be great if it was, but when was the last time a Scottish Wild Cat was seen in England? You're probably more likely to see a lynx!

probably if your in the black forest! so i still say it could have been a scottish wild cat. i remember seeing one up near white adder

the lynx extinct in england for 2500 years!
