You'll have to give your vishus Terrier a 107002.jpg?ts=634229830780for the trouble!

  2. Parcel services from Yemem and Somalia are now suspended due to the bomb threat!

and your not allowed to carry printer toner cartridges over 500 grams on to a plane! like any normal person needs to take a toner cartridge on holiday!

  3. Monsta - you completely missed my point: Packham was talking of a lack of native lynx, of which nobody - least of all me - is disputing. We are talking of animals that are not native to the country.

    did you not say.....

It would be great if it was, but when was the last time a Scottish Wild Cat was seen in England? You're probably more likely to see a lynx!

there fore implying that there is a breeding population of lynx in england!

  4. Had i wanted replies like that, i would have posted in Chat Central, where any comment (within reason) goes.

Had this been from a regular member, it would have been a little more accepted as humorous, but a moderator should, in my opinion, be setting a standard. This is where holding back on the comments comes with the responsibility.

The only reason the thread progressed was because i did not bite as hard as i normally would have, and continued anyway.

The outcome of the thread in no way affects the fact the post was in poor taste, especially from a site moderator, and should not have been posted.

Anyway, this thread has become majorly off-topic too, and perhaps should be split? just a suggestion.

do you not get sick of whining?

and what you mean a regular member? i am a regular member!!!! just because it say global mod beside me name doesn't make any different. i have my own views and every right to post what i think (within regular member rules!)

  5. Perhaps in those early days, the others either were not aware of what a force bedlington.co.uk were going to become, or they just wanted to sit back and see how the website developed. Either way, every single suggestion i, and others have made has been in some way "jestered".

My opinion (and i know i said i would not say this again, but it seems it needs clarification) is that this site needs 1 area where serious discussion is held. In this area, people should be made to be at the very least constructive.

I have no problem with anyone telling me my ideas are pants, but i still expect, at the very least, some sort of encouragement with a reply, especially from a moderator of the site. Merlin wrote once something like "I don't think that would work... but..." and this is exactly the response that should be made.

As a point of fact, take the Poker thread. The first suggestion, by a moderator, was to forget Bedlington, and go online.

Is this the attitude to have? i think not!

If something as simple as adding a poker night to a pub or hall is treated this way, what is a serious advertisement going to fetch?

2 local potential radio stations have shown their face, and one is simply being bullied in my eyes.

Again, i have no problem with the questions being asked, they are relevant, and bluntly, need asked. its the way they are being asked, and the insinuations behind the posts that i believe is wrong.

The replies from those budding businesses are also out of line, but i see why they got that way.

    Get a grip!

Let me be clear here, i've been a moderator here, and i was not up to the job. However i saw my failings, and asked to step aside for the good of the website. This is because for some reason i actually care about the future of this website.

WTF you spat your dumby it had nothing to do with the good of the site!!!

  6. Thank heavens for tip offs and the vigilance of our security services. I wonder just how many people could be put off flying for ever when they read about things like this - it really makes you think!

think you'll be fine as long as you don't post yourself with ups!

  7. Not sure if i`m missing something here, but i can`t find any posts where Monsta mentions having a radio station?

I can find a post where he asked about Vicky`s radio background (which no-one seems to be able to find)

Hopefully, Vicky will appear soon to answer that one.

thats a good idea a radio station where did you pinch that from!!!!

  8. Am I the only one who thinks Wetherspoons will be a complete failure?

For a start, nobody is going to go for breakfast at 7am. This isn't a town with a major transport terminus that allows for people with a little time to spare before their bus/train leaves. Opening at 7am can only cater for locals, as nobody comes into Bedlington at that time otherwise. They will soon knock that on the head as a needless expense.

Next is th question of where the trade is going to come from. I have had conversations in the many pubs with people who believe that when it opens people will flock from miles around to come to the new Wetherspoons. Why would they? Ashington has their own anyway, Blyth has cheap pubs; the only trade that Wetherspoons will attract will be, again, local. Great, the beer is cheap and the food is cheap too, and I will safely bet that for the first couple of weeks the place will attract a lot of interested punters - i'll go and have a look for a start, and other like me undoubtedly will - but if the attraction of a drinking joint was price alone we would all drink in the clubs and the pubs would be shut.

This isn't going to suddenly revive Bedlington in any way at all; beer is still very cheap in the supermarkets, people don't suddenly have any more money to spend, and it's just another pub. Those of us who frequent our local pubs do so not just to pour ten pints down our neck, but to have a bit of a natter, get out of the office, the house, whatever, and relax and have a laugh. I'm afraid that 50p off a pint isn't going to do it for me - and others like me - if the place is as sterile, boring and downright unwelcoming as other Wetherspoons establishments I;ve visited. And it certainly isn't going to attract a mass of people from neighbouring towns who suddenly see Bedlington's Wetherspoons as The Place To Be.

I doubt it will last long at all.

On another note, I wouldn't advertise my local business on this site. While I enjoy it, it doesn't present the right tone.

sure it will fail but im sure the first couple of weeks it will be packed (with youngins!) so they can alway open a creche and soft play to make ends meet!

  9. I can only hope the output of your radio station is more tangible than your efforts on here. And I mean tangible in every sense of the word ;-)

hope thats a good word for that radio station!!!! like what scott of the antartic said" i HOPE i can find me way home"

  10. Has Chris Packham, or whoever, walked every inch of the many thousands of remote and largely untouched moorland, woodland, forest and more that this country plays host to? Does he personally know every single animal that lives in the UK? or is he talking, perhaps, about NATURAL predators for deer, rather than non-native cats of the ilk that we are talking of here? It's great to point to evidence that lynx have officially been extinct for many years - they have - and that TV presenters know everything there is to know, but we're not talking about lynx, or other cats, in the sense that they live here naturally; we're talking animals that are here as alien species, possibly as released after the Dangerous Animals act came into force. There is, as I'm sure you know, a major difference.

As for having no predators, smaller deer are often killed by foxes.

    ask him yourself! http://www.chrispackham.co.uk/

i am sure he will have more experience in the matter than you!

  11. so what it changed its name to real radio - different name same !*!@#! why doesnt koast come on and answer my original question which was a fair question to ask. i can smell a hypocrite!

'evidently', your mate vicky isnt capable of speaking her own mind and needs u to do it for her. why doesnt she tell us her real background and where she comes from ie what actual experiance of broadcasting does she have, what stations has she worked for?

I've been sleep typing again!!!!!:lol:

  12. Yes I did see it Monsta and you are correct he did say that deer have no preditors in this country, thas why they are killed in such high numbers because of the damage they cause. He also said its legal to kill them during the rutting season and it was Unspring

THANK YOU for confirming that pete!!!:lol:
