  • Some of Eastgate is still there, but the houses on the right hand side as you go into Choppington were pulled down around 1998/99 (i think).

  • If you don`t mind me asking, what is/was `the bullring`? Also, if you haven`t already joined these sites, it`s a great way to meet old friends from school or old neighbours. There is Friends Reunited

okay i'll ask him for you tonight :)

Hi there,

Ive asked my dad and he said the Seddons moved away years ago and he thinks they have sadly passed away

The Owens.... my dad knows Les Owen and Brian Owen are still alive but they are grand children of that family

The Tilburys.... Brenda is still alive, Ronnie and Gracie and Harvery have passed away. Keith, their grandson is still alive and still living in choppington

Not sure about the Rushes but The Rice family lived somewhere opposite number 16. They were called Sammy, Lizzie and their three sons john, neil and billy. Neil is running the choppington miners welfare now. They are relations to my dad

Lofthouses.... the sons were billy, horace, les, colin and frank. Billy and Horace passed away, les lives at ashington, colin lives in yorkshire somewhere and frank still lives in choppington

As for my dad and his family.... My grandad was called John but known as spike or billy, his wife was barbara. Both have passed away. His sons were my father (Billy known as spike), my uncle Gordon who has passed away and their sisters Margaret, Betty and Jean. Betty lives with her family in guide post, Jean in bedlington and Margaret in Pegswood

And me and my dad live in good old bedlington station!

Hope all of this is a help to you

I was wondering if anyone here could remember a theatre in Choppington in the 1950`s? I came across a photo which was taken in 1955. It clearly shows that it stood right next to `Wally`s` pub.

I didn`t realise that there was ever a theatre there? It was called `The Star Cinema`

Doe`s it ring any bells to anyone?

16 Eastgate will be just past the school and the first turn to your left? I`m trying to think who lives up there now... i think most of the people that lived there for years have either moved or passed away. If there`s certain people you`re wondering about just pm me, i`m sure i`d be able to find out where they are etc

I had family that used to live at Choppington, they`ve moved now but i knew a few folk there and i`m still in touch with a lot of them.
