In fact it's also the name of the football ground, which is essentially part of the park.

It had me a bit confused. I had to google it. We  always used to call that "the Welfare".

Was it the Bedlington Mechanics pitch Canny lass, after they were moved from the Tesco/Presto car park area?

It was the wefare perk after bed mechs they changed there name to bed c.w

Did you know there was also a tennis club there aswell as bowling green very popular in the 30's,40's & 50's

The country park listed is at Plessey, Hartford Bridge, not the one going down to Humford Mill

Bedlington Country Park goes from the Bridge at the Happney Woods right up the river, including Attlee park, and onto Plessey Woods as far as I know?

I accept that, but why is the listing: Plessey Country Park? That implies the parkland which is accessed from Hartford Road / Hartford Bridge. I wouldn't be impressed with the current walk down to Humford Mill from 20 Acres.

Was in doctor pit Park last week for the first time. It's lovely.

Never had to go past before and expected it to be smaller than it is.

Could it be that while the downriver bit is in "Bedlingtonshire" the upriver bit is in Cramlington?

Malcolm, the web site indicates that Hartford Hall is at the west end of the park, no mention of anything beyond, and that none of the 3 car parks are at Plessey. I still think that Plessey Country Park is an entirely different amenity.

We walked from Plessey woods to Stannington the other day

Fantastic , well signposted,lots of people enjoying the space.

We did have a problem crossing the dual carriageway but the walk and riverside views were / are second to none .

Then there is the viaduct.

Railway history brilliant .

Bedlington is a good lace to live
