  3. I remember Tony, he was underground I was an electrician on surface at that time, I new his father after he married a good friend of ours. (dart players!) He was the mine manager until he retired and also lives in B.C. and regularly visits his daughter across the road from us, I believe they were from Ashington. Grande Cache is about 5 hours west of Edmonton (our local city) you would have passed through Jasper which is only about 2 hours south of us but also in the mountains. Yes it has been cold -30c but it's only -5c today. How did you like it over here? Vic
  4. If it was in the past 31 years I'll know them! G.C. is a small remote town! Vic
  5. Merry Christmas Brian, and to all our forum friends. Vic
  6. Hi Joe, I have several programs but I find the easiest on is a free download, first I reduce the picture size then when I save it I add an "R" at the end of the original photo name, this makes it easy to find and use the original picture. 7. Cole Riley Cuff, thank you all for the best wishes, I'll pass them on to the family. Vic

  10. Xmas! it's here now! Vic
  11. No Mr O it wasn't a mistake but "Add Reply" was locked and I thought it might be an interesting topic, Old is a relevant term! I sometimes feel old then I see "real" old folks, my oldest driving car is 23 years old, but my hobby is "real" old cars. Vic
  12. Heh! what do you mean by "Old lags" !!! Do you have children? then ask them what age "old" is! Vic
  13. Clockwise for me until I look at the shadow then it changes to counter clockwise! Vic
  14. I just Googled a few, lots of different designs out there, where was that offer 13 years ago? might be a while before I can take you up on your offer! Vic
  15. I'm still here, but we are 7 hours different, it's 1.30 am your time! Vic
  16. Happy Birthday Cympil and Dave. Are you just coming over for a visit Dave? I shouldn't think it will any less than -40c, but don't count on it! (we had our first snowfall last month!) Vic
  17. In most cases they are definitely better than guns at least they are not normally fatal, but there are exception which usually hit the headlines, and as usual you occasionally get rogue police who abuses their power! Which is worse being treat inhumanely or dead! Vic
  18. Hi Joe, I didn't see those bears but last week I saw a Calgary bear on the news, quite funny when it popped its head over the fence and when it saw the cop car coming it ducked down and ran off, I saw a cinnamon grizzly the other day. We have also lost a few cats to the coyotes so its house cats only now! When you go out walking around here just make sure your with someone slower than yourself! Vic
  19. The spiders and snakes might be alright, so are the coyotes and wolves but the bears and cougars are a bit more mean! Vic http://www.dailyheraldtribune.com/Local%20...ews/333020.html
  20. Anything that's not from the U.S. Vic
  21. I believe the moderators are doing an excellent job, the language has been toned down and the discussions are becoming interesting, in the past I would think twice before posting a question or an answer but now do not hesitate. I enjoy the banter between the regulars but feel I have very little to contribute (Bedlington is my wife's birthplace I'm from Bl..h!) I lived in Bedlington for several years, I was Married in St Cuthbert's, kids went to school in Bedlington, I really like the photographs of the area. Keep up the good work! Vic
  22. I would think the savings from healthcare services would more than offset the loss of tobacco tax revenue! BTW the inmates still have their Playstations and X-Boxes along with their TV's and stereos etc. Vic
  23. In Canadian prisons there is no smoking inside of any buildings, that is until April 1st 2008 when there will be no smoking at all for staff or offenders! Vic
  24. I work in a Federal Penitentiary but can't speak for the prisons in the U.K. but we all have the same smoking issues, our Provincial prisons (2 years less a day) went 100% smoke free without all of the expected riots. Our Federal prisons (2 years and over) are now smoke free inside the buildings this protects staff and inmates from second-hand smoke, but there are many side issues particularly religious rights! Another problem is tobacco is an inmates main form of currency, a bail of tobacco is their Dollar, Pound or Euro!!! Vic
