The Royal Wedding
My next door neighbour is a trapper, he runs a trap line and makes a living at it, across the road there is a native family who hunt for all their meat. Most! (well half) my friends hunt for most of their meat, (hunting for non-natives is only allowed for a few weeks in the fall, controlled by the sale of hunting tags) a moose can fill a big freezer, elk is nice, deer are tasty, a couple of friends go up to the Yukon for trophy animals (usually sheep) to put on the wall, too each his own! it takes all sorts!

HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE. George Phillips an elderly man from Bedlington, was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me. Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available." George said, "Okay." He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again. "Hello,I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both, the dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up. Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George , "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Support The Small Bussiness
Shopping locally has its pro's and cons! we shop locally whenever we can afford too! (we tend to get gouged as they don't have any competition!) my wife remembers Pop and his sister Edie Clouson very well, Edie also ran a small shop. You can't beat the independent local butcher and baker etc for quality but it usually comes at a high cost as they don't have the volume purchasing abilities that the big companies have.

Where's Our Road Salt & Grit?
"one-stop shop for everything from the 60s, 70s and 80s", "I have always been very wary of nostalgia, regarding it as an evil similar and related to the onset of senility" (Tony Ryan) I agree with you, nostalgias not like it were when I was a lad,we had proper nostalgia then!

Where's Our Road Salt & Grit?
I remember traveling from Bedlington to the power station in the snow, (about 40 years ago) in my BMW (Isetta bubble car!) the roads were rutted and frozen, where does the middle wheel go! the throttle cables ran under the car and froze solid, to make it worse the railway gates closed at the station, I had to use the ignition key as a throttle! (snowing here still, and it's coming your way )
