  1. BLEEDING HEARTS! they have taken over! we all deserve basic rights but when we look after the criminal and not the victim something is wrong, we go to the extreme in giving cons more than basic rights in medical dental, cosmetic (sex changes etc) coverage, I see them going right across the country on "compassionate trips" I've said on another topic there is no accountability for their actions! we are not allowed to punish but only "correct" If we would only give our seniors half of what we give cons, it takes over $100k to keep a con in jail how much would it cost to keep him out?
  2. I am working in a Federal Penitentiary, been here for the past 25 years, I have seen every kind of inmate (offender is preferred!) that there is, it will benefit some inmates but not others you cannot generalize, you think the UK is soft "you ain't seen nuthin!" Some inmates should be way up north breaking rocks, many inmates are institutionalized and cannot function in the outside word (but we don't help them stay out!) many will never be back, some ask us to hold their jobs until they return! We have bad guys who will never be anything else but BAD! I have run into ex inmates with their family's who thank us for helping them through their bad times others you wouldn't like to meet in a dark alley. Xmas at home for most low risk inmates would makes life a lot easier for us!(just like early parole)
  3. Happy birthday Pete.
  4. I'm having my Christmas wish right now, today I drove the 500 km to the city and made it in time for a grandson's school Xmas concert! now I'll have the next three days with my three daughters and their family's. On the way home on Saturday I'll stop in at my son's and spend some time with his family. I'll also get my wife her Xmas present! Life is great!
  5. -41c (without wind chill)and it's heading your way! but the snow stopped.
  6. I think it's time to vote on this issue!
  7. Ho Ho Ho Joe, nice to see you pop up out of that snow bank! we've had snow for about 6 weeks now but we didn't get big dump you did, the girls did in Leduc, two years ago October 21st we got 4ft but it was all gone by May or was it June! -34c last night.
  8. If you figure out how to stop it snowing let me know, it might work over here!
  9. Have a great day Doglover, Happy birthday
  10. Great stuff, loved the "scad the sheeps dottles" and "gannen to watta the leeks"
  11. Just a bit
  12. Fantastic! what a great opportunity to get involved and get others to participate, there are lots out there that can help they just need a nudge! look to the youth, groups and schools. The Picnic was a good example of what can be achieved, I suggest you come up with a theme! Our Town had it's 40th anniversary this year, they invited ex pats, had entertainment, sports and politicians! (I can remember the Attlee Park BS sorry speeches)
  13. Great coverage, Who was the host?
  14. Pete, the hunting season varies from area to area (zones) and it varies from species to species, (hence the need of a GPS and lawyer, really good map reading is all you need) but most areas close December 1, there are lots of special draws (you have to apply for a chance to hunt special animals usually for taxidermy mounting ) Bow hunting starts earlier than gun hunting. Brian I don't hunt but have gone out with the guys, deer meat I would say is favorite but moose fills the freezer, you can put over 400 lbs off one animal, (you can go up to 800-900 lb, nothing is wasted. (maybe just the hide) there is lots of comradery or bonding, out there for several days you need to look after each other!
  15. Nice seasonal website, thank you! Vic
  16. Depends on how the charging electricity is generated? nuclear, wind, solar, tidal or oil or coal etc. is it a case of pollute now or pollute later? Then there is the batteries, what are they made of? how are they disposed of? but definitely a step in the right direction ( ah divent see anywhere to put a gunny sack of coal!)
  17. Unfortunately no! I usually carry it but because of the early departure and cold weather (packing cold weather clothes etc I forgot! I should have known better as it was the first day after hunting season closed and I think the animals know it!
  18. Almost silently, so as not to scare the fish, Bob says, 'I think I'm gonna divorce my wife. She hasn't spoken to me in over 2 months.' Earl continues slowly sipping his beer, then thoughtfully says, 'You'd better think it over Bob, women like that are hard to find.'
  19. I'm from Blyth and when I cross the bridge at Bebside I'm lost! Newbiggin, Cambois., Druridge Bay they're all so close there all the same! Kidding! I worked at Blyth Power Station, Alcan and all over the Ashington area. BTW I was out of town today and saw my first Lynx! impressive animal.
  20. Monsta,Bears! we got bears but there all asleep, I hope!Pete, I worked at the Alcan at Newbiggen, I worked as construction electrician, is it still running?
  21. What's the fishing like in Tesco;s Monsta?
  22. Pete, In 15 hours (1,200 km)you can be at the coast in Kitimat, BC. lots of salmon there!
  23. Depending on the animal! they all have a "gamey" taste but cooked right tastes very good, many here won't buy meat from the store, (my wife wont eat poor Bambie, or is it Rudolph? because she puts out carrots out for them!) Most people live here because of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4X4 or quading etc (as there is nothing else here!) you love it or leave! Hunting and fishing are well regulated, (need GPS and a good lawyer!) it is often used to control different species to protect another species etc (that is often controversial) shoot wolves to protect caribou, shoot grizzlies to save us!!! Fishing! you can fish in the local lakes or streams, trek for a week or fly into remote lakes, my plumber at work just returned from the Yukon, fly into one location, a weeks trek to another, got his trophy sheep. The Americans pay big bucks to hunt up here, (my neighbor is a trapper/ guide) its a great place, but don't tell anyone! (Alaska is about 4-5 days drive)
  24. Merlin, Its hunting season for Deer, Elk and Moose, time to fill the freezer
  25. It's hunting season here! but its for bigger annimals than bunnies!
