Foxy, first Picture #32. Was Todd & sons a fresh fish shop and if so was it the Todd who used to sell fish from a van around the houses?
Yes canny lass It was a Fresh Fish Shop although I cannot say if it was the same family business selling from a van locally. Good to see your back on the Bedders website, Its been left to Eileen and the Maggie's to break the boredom of the Fella's . :)

I remember them opposite the Whitley School Keith, or directly opposite Binks shop, the terrace backed on to Millne Park when the Mechanics played their matches there.

They were at the Market Place before going to Glebe Road were'nt they Foxy ?

and who remembers the place next to Reddifusion that fixed and rented washing machines,???
Micky,
If you are talking about the shop in Vulcan Place it was called Forresters, they moved to Glebe Road and still run a successful business there although under different management.

we hosted the greatest picnics for the lads and they came from everywhere and were all very proud to fly their own Pit Banners in the air down Front St. and Bedlington was the place to be......
Well said mickypotts!

Does anyone have any 'new' photos of Doctor terrace or any of the residents who lived there. My dads family lived in the raas and my dad was raised on Doctor Terrace... I am trying to put together some pictures of our family. Thank you
Here's one from 1987, its come from one of the Friends Of Gallagher Park, and they are always looking for small donations!!

The Town council have been TOLD to keep out of it, NCC are going to sort it.
.
Lets hope they have more success with the traders than they have had with Tesco's Midden in the Market Place. I've just paid a visit to Morrisons at the other end of the town and noticed they had members of staff picking litter from their car park, what a difference!! Oh! and by the way, I wouldn't put a lot of faith in NCC, looking at the other "clangers" they have dropped in the town, (Church School, Elliots Garage)

Why did they demolish these buildings? can u imagine what they would look like now done up like other buildings in Bedlington, it makes me really sad, weve lost such a lot.
Wait until you see what the former Elliots Garage Site has in store for us, And the planners are still employed after desecrating the centre of the Conservation Area.

I grew up in Bedlington Station, and moved to the top end in 1981, but i cant remember this building or where it was, could be too many birthdays or the heat. Love your photographs foxy
Then and now Eileen.

Have a guddin , is she letting you out for a pint the night then? :)

Both those photos are amazing foxy. The second one shows the place I only ever knew as Allsop's the Barber as Foggan's shop. One of those really obvious things that never register when you are too close to the action!
Here's Joe's.

Straker is a very old Bedlington name. I have some sort of recollection that some Strakers may have lived in the Baptist Yard before it was demolished (early 1960's or maybe late 1950's?), That's was around about the location of the present telephone exchange. Or maybe it was Foggan's Yard - entrance where Lloyds TSB is - or even both?
Well, only Methuselah or threegee would remember these.
Does anyone know what the event could be?

I also had a pal who lived in one of the old cottages which were at the back of the forecourt.
Here they are in 1987,they were pulled down in 92.

A couple of years back I went to Northern Ireland with two mates to watch the North West 200 motorbike racing, and because the wives had let us out on five days parole, we decided to take them a little pressy home. The Bushmills Museum and Distillery was nearby so we decided to get each of them a bottle of Malt. Now my mate who likes to think he knows everything, tells us that all the Bushmill Malts have the word Bush in their name but he couldn't find the one he wanted, so he went to the checkout girl and asked if she had a Black Bush. For some reason he was asked to leave, and we're still trying to figure out why, maybe if I get Keith Lockey on the phone we can work it out together. :)
